New scam happened to me this morning

The OP reported on her personal experience of an actual attempted criminal scam.
She didn't say -- at least in the opening post I've read on here -- that a friend of a relative of some or other Failbook user had told her to beware of this.
There is a difference between a hoax going the rounds (and being perpetuated by idiotic drama queens) and an old scam -- which this is -- being revived.
But perhaps some of the more myopic / more stupid here simply saw the link to Hoaxslayer and lazily assumed that if this featured on that website, then of course, it must be a hoax (despite the glaringly obvious fact that Hoaxslayer is confirming that this *isn't* a hoax.)
Thanks, OP. Don't worry about posters who can't tell the difference between what's real (a scam) and what's not (a hoax). They tend to be the ones who find that out for themselves, and usually at a cost.0 -

your post is based on an edited opening post
It only needed editing because a bunch of idiots who like to try and bolster their miserable egos by belittling people at any opportunity piled in with a lot of spurious objections to the original post.
Then the OP, trying to do the right, thing deleted the post they found so offensive only to get more sad-sacks insulting her.
So she reinstated it.
Seems she can't get it right as there's always some numb-nuts waiting to have another go.There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0 -

Azari, did you not state on MSE recently that you were nice to everyone?
Not that I recollect.
If you can provide a link that shows that I did I'll put my hands up to an error and qualify the statement to exclude the scumbags who delight in belittling people who are just trying to help. There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0 -

But I hate these scams.
PS. I promise it wasn't him!0 -
