He didn't just see it. He posted it as if had just happened to him, when he had actually copied and pasted it from a year old post.

Probably wanted to make a name for himself.

I got a call this morning and to be fair why would I want to make a name for myself on here?? I didn't know if others knew about it as I had never heard of it yes I pasted it but to be fair it would have taken ages to type out on my netbook and i didn't look at the comment date I was looking it up I thought that it might be help someone taken it down now and in future i will keep my mouth shut

    Not really.

He may have just seen it, not realised it was an old scam, and posted it here to warn others.

It's not as if he's getting paid to post.

    Yes, exactly. Of course.

Well done for making the effort to let us know about this, deep in. Thanks.

I happen to have heard of this one before but there are lots of people who haven't so you did the right thing being helpful, bringing it to people's attention here. Lots of people fall prey to this one, especially old people and various vulnerable people.

And it's perfectly valid to have copied the ready made description of what happened.

Perhaps if something like this happens again and you want to help publicise it then if you copy a description of it perhaps say something like :

This happened to me this morning, just like in this example :

    "blah blah previous description..."

and then give a link to where you copied it from.

Then it will be clear that this happened to you and that you've used the handy description of it from the other report.

I think that you've been helpful and sincere here so I don't think that the criticisms are warranted.

So, well done you and just ignore the negative bods.
