  • Fair play to you OP if you were trying to help, probably would have been adviseable to have mentioned you had copied it from another site to save typing though

This happened to me yesterday morning and as it would take me for ever to type it this is a similar description to the call I got:

    which came from website http://www.hoax-slayer.com/bt-unpaid...one-scam.shtml.

    am i missing something?

OP did advise the experience wasnt her own - only similar?

Yes, what you are missing is that the OP deleted her original post, and after criticism in the thread for deleting it, has now re-instated it and added the part about copying it from another source.

She has now tricked you into believing that she did the right thing from the start.

Sailorsam along with you has attacked me I was trying to help others and I didn't warrant the abuse I got and I never claimed to be perfect but if you insist on attacking others then make sure your perfect in every way first which no human is. I may have gone the wrong way about posting it but the abuse I got was not needed if I had been given constructive advice on how to post it then I would have happily changed it as I have done now. Surely the fact I got a call yesterday suggests it is doing the rounds again and not all people have heard of it as I hadn't until I got the call, if it helps one person then that is a good enough reason for me to post it.

Funniest thread of the day. I love the shouting.
  • I've never heard of this 'scam' before. Perhaps already knowing-it-all depends on exactly how much time one spends trawling through various internet 'chat' type sites?

Can't honestly say I'd have fallen for it (& I'm with BT), but my 85 year old mother might so I will mention it to her. Thanks OP.

What difference does it make if something has appeared several times before - if you already know about it then feel free to "jog on" to a different thread!

Hey we've all said things we wished we hadn't.
We've had a laugh at the OPs expense, and i'm sure she must be sitting there with a red face this morning. So don't you think we should move on and find someone else to have a pop at now.

Sounds a little like bullying to me, surprised you're so blatantly open about encouraging that SailorSam. Bit sad to take pleasure at "having a laugh at someone else's expense" and eagerly "moving on to have a pop at someone else".

Not heard of this myself. My mum gets a lot of scam calls so will let her know about this.

    Thank you OP
  • I sometimes get emails from friends warning of various scams but I always check out there validity on websites such as Hoax slayer or snopes, before I foward them this saves creating or adding to what could be a huge E chain mail.
