Hey we've all said things we wished we hadn't.
We've had a laugh at the OPs expense, and i'm sure she must be sitting there with a red face this morning. So don't you think we should move on and find someone else to have a pop at now.

Suggests this is not defending me but in fact attempting to belittle me please don't attempt to back track after your error has been pointed out. It is clearly written and cannot be misconstrue by anyone as anything but an attempt to belittle me.

If it's not you that's wrong then it must be me. but i have read that comment over and over again and all i can see in it is i'm asking everyone to stop teasing you and move forward until the next victim comes along.

But now you're trying to belittle them. Just let it go, people can read the responses and decide for themselves whether people are being idiotic or not.

The problem in this thread has been of your own making as you cut and pasted a scam from another website without referencing the fact you had done that. It has obviously made it look like you we're making the whole thing up.

On a thread point of view you would have been better in your subject header to actually reference the scam. Eg BT phone scam. That would make it easier for google searches to bring it up.

My point is why should there be victims at all?? If someone posts something like I did then why should I become a victim?? It is pathetic and if you had suggested that perhaps I posted it differently like I now have I would have thanked you but to suggest that I should become a victim for trying to help others is going to stop people doing things like that in the future. I was doing it for the right reasons I have bi polar and had I been hyper at the time I know for a fact I would have panicked and paid. This site was set up to help all. I did this for people like me, my mum and many others in similar situations. To suggest I am stupid and should feel embarrassed in anyway for doing it was not constructive criticism but if fact it was your choice to join the small minded people who think it is funny to belittle posters who maybe don't post the way they consider correctly.

As you didn't fall for the scam then people like you won't need this warning. It's obviously a warning for people who are very naive.

The main warning that should be given is if people phone you (or email you) and want you to pay for something there and then it's probably a scam and do not hand over your card details.

This is a very good point and one that is worth emphasising.

Scam artists are forever coming up with new ways to convince people to hand over payment details so the best thing to tell anyone who you believe may fall prey to these tactics is: "If in any sort of doubt, do not tell them anything and discuss it with someone else first."

I listen to a lot of the phone-ins on our local radio and there are always calls from people warning other listeners about scams. Most of them variations of the same scans that have been going for years. I'm yet to to hear the presenter say ... 'oh No not this again', he always just politely points out it's a long standing problem but it's always worth repeating the warning to others.
So as others have pointed out perhaps the heading for your thread could have been better but we're all grateful to be reminded of the dangers out there.
I have a friend of many years and like you Op he suffers from Bipolar, i know how he feels when anyone comments on something he's done or said, so hope you'll accept my apologies if i've spoken out-of-turn.

I might not be the best at trying to explain things but I do try and all good intentions were there I never meant to upset or annoy anyone.

If I was hyper I know it would have paid it the thing is I can't relate similar situations to new ones it doesn't make me stupid it just depends on the level of my bi polar on the day. I find it hard as I am sure many others do in my situation and similar ones I have been scammed many times in very similar scams when hyper and I haven't seen it was all the same scam until I had a level mood and felt stupid after. I have to read the exact situation to see it happening I won't answer calls when hyper unless I know the number because of this, but this is how my mental health effects me and I thought I can't be the only one.
