Virgin Media Price Increases From 1/2/2013

I started an 18 month broadband contract (with a loyalty discount) at the end of October and got no notification of a price increase.
I was told in October I could have a 6, 12 or 18 month contract but the benefits of the 18 month contract would be that the price was fixed for the full period. This was confirmed by email (which I still have) explicitly saying: "£[bill amount] x 18 months"
My Feb and March bill was badly wrong (one too low and one too high) and my online access was not working. I was hoping they'd sort it out themselves (I'm a patient guy). So did not realise the price had risen till April.
I've just phoned them and they have agreed to credit me with £24.50 which is the total difference for the remaining 14 months.
This may be because I am a "loyalty" customer or because I didn't get a letter, or maybe because they know that it would be ridiculous to raise prices on contracts after 4 months.
I hope Ofcom will sort this outrageous system out with their review...(assuming they do broadband as well as mobiles...)0
