Probaly the most expensive major phone service operating in UK as far as calls are concerned !!!0 -

I just noticed your comment , it's worth pointing out that if the last price rise was Feb this year and the next is Feb next year , then that is by no means unusual!
Also let's not forget that both Sky and BT will be doing the same!
I'm not defending VM's price rise by the way (I'm currently looking at my VM bill to see what I can chop out!) ... but just pointing out that what they are doing is no different to all other companies out there ...0 -
Can we do anything about slower speeds? I have noticed since renegotiating my contract & going wireless (this co-incided with me changing mobile provider from T-mobile to them as well) that broadband is running slow at all the peak times! Who knows how fast they are running when I am asleep or at work but really I don't care - can we enforce the speeds we were promised or go else at no additional cost?0

speeds are not guaranteed
I'm not really sure of what you mean by 'going wireless'?
Do you mean you are now using wifi within your house?0 -
If the speed drops only when on wi-fi, just change the wireless channel-nothing to do with VM.
If the speed still drops on ethernet, it's another issue. Sounds more like standard VM traffic management to me though.
Going 'wireless' has nothing to do with your mobile phone contract. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
Does anyone know how much the Broadband only option is going up by? looking at getting Virgin Broadband only when i move - just ditched Sky.0

I left Virgin recently anyway. It wasn't just about prices either.
My new deal with BT does save me a little but not too much really. However, it ended up being much cheaper setup than expected. To do a standard digital aerial install was meant to be £120. However, my installation was non standard so they re-quoted me nearer £300. I got an independent around. In spite of my analogue aerial being over 25 years old (it was here when I moved in), the independent told me not to bother with a digital aerial. He set up my BT vision for £50 on my old analogue aerial and felt guilty asking me for that. I thanked him for his honesty and gave him an extra tenner.
These large companies seem to keep it very quiet that you can get the Freeview type services on analogue aerials. They used to say that more recent analogue aerials would probably be OK but older ones would need to be replaced. Well I've no idea of the age of mine because a previous owner had it installed a very long time ago. (N.B. I was late getting an aerial check for digital because the TV was being cabled in by Virgin for quite a few years.)
Anyway, once the early discount expires, I will be paying £3 a month less for the broadband (a faster broadband too) and the phone service will be slightly cheaper.0 -
There is no such thing as a 'digital' or 'analogue' aerial. There are simply different types of aerials, none are digital/analogue-specific.
Any installer using such terminology is trying it on.No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
my minimum term comes to an end in jan i'll be trying to haggle them down after getting a discount of just ten pounds which im grateful for i dont want to pay anymoreWhat goes around-comes around0

I joined them on a half-price for 3 months deal (I say joined, but I moved house so kinda 'rejoined') but the price went up £5 after one month - and they explained the cost had actually gone up £10 so I was still getting it half price. I asked why they hadn't advised me of the increase before I signed the tied in contract and they said they always increase prices twice a year ('always'!) so I said they had therefore got me to sign the contract fraudulently as they have already been aware of the hike beforehand. In the end they admitted defeat and gave me the increase 'free' for 6 months... but now there is going to be another one (why am I surprised they said 'twice a year'!) but I don't have the energy to fight them every 6 months.... might be time to opt out ...but do love TIVO :0(0
