Had my letter to say its going up £4.24 month no breakdown on whats gone up either. I rang last time it went up to see how much it would be if I got rid of the home phone as we never use it at all and was told it would be more expensive. Do all cable companys make you have a home phone? It just seems that I am paying for something that is a waste of money.

Virgin Media don't provide Broadband down a phone line - they offer tariffs with and without a phone line on their website - if you don't have the phone its more expensive, but cheaper than having BB and a phone...

Does anyone know how much the Broadband only option is going up by? looking at getting Virgin Broadband only when i move - just ditched Sky.

I got my letter last week and it said £1.15
  • Daft question, but is there any 'free' way to get Eurosport? That is the only channel I watch much that isn't available on Freeview. While Eurosport itself is free there seems to be some daft thing where it is only free if you are signed up to a paying package, I have a feeling that is something to do with how it is funded.

Other than that I don't use the phone a lot - maybe an hour a week in the evening. I don't know if BT would charge for me to be reconnected - there hasn't been a non-cable connection to the house for 15+ years, although the wiring appears to still be there. I might just be better off going with someone like plus.net for phone and broadband.

One thing Virgin could do to save some money - stop spamming their existing customers on a weekly basis with the latest offer leaflets through the post... You'd have thought they'd use their customer database to target the advertising a little bit better. I don't know who they use to deliver them though as I'm signed up to the RM junk mail opt-out but still get these.

Yes we get these all the time, very annoying and such a waste!

We got our letter through and have rang up to cancel. Hoping for a good deal again through retentions when they ring back.
  • I've been with virgin for nearly 6 months on a 12 month contract.

Will I be able to cancel early due to the price increase and will I have to pay back the cash back they sent me via Quidco?

I'm been made redundant and need to save on my monthly bills.

Would appreciate so advice before calling

    Thanks all.

You overlook their offering for non-cabled areas - they use BT ADSL to provide their 'Virgin National' service.

My mistake, it is one of the options.

Forget quidco if you've had it paid you wont need to repay it.

Wait for your letter and refuse the increase by the means shown on the letter.

Don't be surprised if they do what many companies have done lately which is write off the increase when you complaint to retain your custom (and in VM's case, potentially a new contract if they activate a change of service terms for those outside minimum periods...)
  • I have been a VM customer for a few years. I hate the company. I don't trust a word they say.

I am going to BT Infinity.

I rang VM and asked about early termination, they want over £100!! Strangely they didn't mention that I could leave at no cost if I don't want to be bound by the price increase. This company sucks!

Never again will I buy any product or service that has the Virgin brand on it.

Has everyone received a letter about price rise ?

    I haven't yet.

Don't think I received one last time either.
