The BBC kept more than £100,000 viewers had pledged to charity for itself.
Staff knowingly withheld money that should have gone to causes including Children in Need and Comic Relief.
In another hammer blow to TV's reputation, the corporation has been ordered by its own ruling body, the BBC Trust, to apologise for the scandal on air.
Lost cash: Money taken by Comic Relief, Children In Need and Sports Relief should have been handed over to charities
TV's reputation? The device from whence we get such delights as "strictly" and "Tool academy" surely you are not trying to impute such a glorious medium in scandal and unfair play?
OMG you will start having a go at another great institution like the catholic church next.
I fear I shall have to away and watch a BBC reporter interview a BBC executive about the Jimmy Savile debacle before I can sleep easy in my bed tonight.

Seems the daily mail are running the story, i was disapointed when finding out that I hadn't won however everyone makes mistakes and atleast Boots are now willing to accept this and be more than generous in giving everybody £10 worth of points.
It's amazing how many people are saying they will never shop in Boots again on there Facebook site, yet when they get a response to say they will be getting free points they soon change their tune. Hate to say it but most on there are money grabbers who are looking to cash in from a error.0 -

I reckon if you save the points til after Christmas and spend them on their silly priced 90% off gift sales then £10 'free' money will go even further.
I entered, got their Win email but actually read the apology one first so wasn't too disappointed - I definitely see this as a bonus; I always say that a win is a win - and in this case, even when it's not!0 -

More free advertising for Boots
This will be the best £90k Unilever have ever spent.0 -
I do agree it's time for us to take a deep breath and accept that this isn't the end of the world - though the W Hotel looked wonderful, and there were lots of lovely extras. Also that the first "sorry" email rubbed salt into the wound, for which someone should be and probably will be castigated. The latest email is well thought out and much more appropriate.
I'm a little surprised they're not being a bit more generous just in terms of good PR - 5 x identical breaks to the 1st one for instance would have cost £10k max, as I imagine their handling house will be picking up the whole tab for this as well as heavy compensation to Boots and VO5.
I can't help thinking and knowing that assuming they sent this to all entrants, there will be dozens of people who picked up the 1st email, started telling friends and family, possibly invited someone along, then had to go out for the day/evening and still don't know it's a mistake. I know how I felt and there could be some real egg on face stories.0 -

OOO your on here as well with the big corporation bashing! :j
technically they won't be spending £90k they will be giving the points out. I wouldn't have thought that much of the stuff you buy for £10 costs them £10 unless you are factoring in all the associated retail costs. ( if you please provide it in a spreadsheet format and I will check your figures later).
Just a quick question did you actually enter this competition or are you seeing this as the best chance you have had to wind up people this week so far?
