I suppose working for Boots I'm lucky I didn't enter this, but I won't get an extra £10 of points :( :rotfl:

(Also, I knew nothing of this at all, I work nowhere near the marketing department btw!)
Back to comping after a 3-year hiatus :j
  • It's not really though, is it? They give you a virtual £10 and you take £10 of goods from their store? If 9K entered then they are still 90K worth of goods down.:D

Ok, you give them £10 worth of business plus whatever else you spend while you're in there.

Alright, maybe it was human error but its not much fun having a holiday snatched from under your nose. A lot of people felt very glum this afternoon. Not what we all need just now!
  • I think it's a bit churlish to criticise Boots and claim it's some sort of scam. Nobody is perfect, mistakes happen. 1000 points is better than nothing.

Are you aware of Unilevers Newsjacking and social media marketing ploys ?

£90k for this much negative comment a total bargain.

Depends here if you side with the evil corporations conspiracy theory or the most things which look like a coc4 up are in fact just that.

I'm happy with how they've finally managed to resolve this.

I thought this afternoon's 'apology' email was completely tactless and lacking in empathy, and if they'd sent a genuine-sounding email at the time, quicker than two hours after the original email, it could have all been nipped in the bud then.

However it seems they have eventually considered the impact, and I was glad to receive the apologetic email, even before I'd read as far as the bonus points. When I got to that bit, I saw it as a good-will gesture which yes, benefits them as they won't probably lose many customers through this fiasco now, but also benefits us, as we get a free ten pounds! I'm sure lots of those that entered would be going into Boots at some point anyway, or why would they have an advantage card? So it's hardly the conspiracy of the century!

Glad someone saw sense and sent a nice email; bonus welcomed.

    every penny goes to charity...

Today my opinion of some of the people using mse has changed, i cannot believe the GREED of some of these people...

If you dont want to donate it to children in need theres many other charities...

I think all the people who said we want compensation - well it doesnt matter they obviously dont care about anybody but themselves.
Today imo a part of mse has died - i didnt realise there were so many greedy nasty people :(

Take it this passed you by:

The BBC kept more than £100,000 viewers had pledged to charity for itself.

Staff knowingly withheld money that should have gone to causes including Children in Need and Comic Relief.

In another hammer blow to TV's reputation, the corporation has been ordered by its own ruling body, the BBC Trust, to apologise for the scandal on air.
Lost cash: Money taken by Comic Relief, Children In Need and Sports Relief should have been handed over to charities
