As Twinkly said, stick to your timetable. Read the Reclaim Help thread FAQ post in my signature.

All the template letters are at the top of the forum. You don't need to respond directly to their letter. Just send the next letter.

Please read the Step by step guide in my signature, it explains the process.
  • I recently sent the standard letter from this site to reclaim my Abbey charges for the last 6 years. Roughly, around 14 days later I received my 1st letter acknowledging my claim and stating that they would be in touch again within 4 weeks. Today, 4 days before the 4 weeks was up, I received another letter saying that it was going to take longer than first expected and that I should hear again within another 4 weeks. Are they trying to bide time? Has anyone had the same experience? Can you please advise what I should do - sit tight or ????

    Thanks from a newbie!!!
  • Hey there all.

I have just started a claim against Halifax. Having sent my intial letter for my claim (requesting a decison within 14 days) they have replied telling me they will investigate my complaint. This will take between 4-8 weeks. Question! Do I send my 2nd letter threating court action now (as they have replied to my first) or do I still have to wait for the intial 14 days to end that I originally gave them to deal with it before taking further action?!

    Any help more than welcome!!!!!

They have entered you into their complaints procedure which states as per the FSA that they must respond in 8 weeks. According to your timescales, which you are entitled to follow not theirs, they have responded within the 14 days you set and so you can now continue with the next stage. Send your LBA now :)

    Hi there
i have just received the same letter this morning. i have been advised to continue with my second letter, as they have responded within the timescale set by me. i have printed off my letter and i am jsut going to post it by recorded delivery. i say send your second letter, remember you set the timescale not them.

This is the first time i am doing it myself, i am abit nervous about the whole thing but i am the debt collector now and i have no mercy. It's actually nice being on the other side for once hahaha!

    go get 'em.
  • Hi Wiltz
How long have you been waiting in total? Do you know how long we are supposed to give them, before taking it further? I've been waiting about 8/9 weeks so far!
