Do you do things just because your Mum did?

Lol, I peel mushrooms, I tend to clean the house before we go away.
Also rinse the dishes before they go in the dishwasher

I'm the exact opposite. I do things that my mother never did.
Like clean my house, not use my kids as unpaid skivvys, not have a drawer full of margarine wrappers in the vain hope that I might need them to grease a cake tin.
that's just for startersMortgage free as of 10/02/2015. Every brick and blade of grass belongs to meeeee. :j0 -
ok i have a few:) they are not all good ones i may add.
Never do housework on new years day as what ever you do that day you will do all year.
pack your grocery in lots of seperate bags ie. fridge, tins, freezer, bread, bathroom etc never mix items up.
always have a boiled kettle ( waste of money i know)
put salt in a boiled egg after every mouthful.
never dunk biscuits.
Use neat bleach on kitchen worktops leaving white marks on some of my best tops.0 -
Never heard of peeling mushrooms either.
I have taken a lot of things off my Dad too-
Buying reduced stuff and cutting off mould as necessary
Keeping butter wrappers for greasing tins
Growing veg
NB: I didn't do any of this as a child, just seem to have picked it up once I moved out. Very strange

I can't help doing things my Mum did... as I get older I am turning into her whether a like it or not! I hear her voice sometimes when I speak..
Thankfully I love her dearly, and becoming like my Mum is probably quite a nice place to end up.

I find peeling mushrooms rather theraputic:p
I do housework all year anyway - whether i've done it on New Year's day or not. This year I will hopefully be on a beach in Tenerife on NYD - can I do that all year too? :rotfl:
I come in the house through the front door and walk straight through and out the back door to get washing in while I've still got my coat on.
I ask everyone what they want for tea tomorrow when they've only just finished today's. It used to drive me mad when mum did it and now I'm exactly the same
I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Lots of things (but my Dad not Mum).
Never putting hot food in the fridge
Only putting small amounts of sugar and coffee into canisters
Pulling all plugs out every night
My favourite is every sunday night changing the bedding, having a bath and putting clean PJs on!
You don't realise you do them (or that they may be strange) until you move in with someone else!I seldom end up where I wanted to go, but almost always end up where I need to be0 -

We don't do this, but every time we go away and return to an untidy house, one of us will comment that we know why my mum cleans the house before they go on holiday!
I don't iron pants and socks like my mum does and have never felt a moments regret about that!
