Amex Foursquare promotion

They credited Debenhams £50 2 days after the transactions were posted so no different to when I load to card. One wonders if you need to load any of the offers really as it seems like synching the card is enough
The first time I tried to use the Foursquare/Amex offers I did it wrong, tried to load to card before checking in. The app is not the most user friendly and I interpreted the message of "check-in to redeem this offer" to mean that I had loaded it and just needed to check in and make my purchase. What it should have said was something along the lines of "offer not loaded, check-in then load to card."
I am currently pursuing this with Amex, but am not entirely hopeful of getting my cashback.
My advice would be to definitely load the offers to your card, syncing alone is not enough.Mortgage 1 Oct 11 - £118k @ 1.29%(BR+0.79) July 14 £118k
Mortgage 2 Oct 11 - £17k @ 3.19%(BR+2.69) July 14 £3k (£0 after offsetting)
Mortgage total Oct 11 - £135k July 14 £121k (£118k)
Reg Savers (6%) - July 14 £5.1k
ISAs - £0.6k
Santander 123 Acc (3%) - £5k0 -
syncing alone is not enough.
Erm, I've just proved that it can be.
IMO the foursquare checking in and loading is all social media tracking and marketing. If it was at all necessary, I would have been refused cashback for doing neither at Debenhams
The critical event is a transaction on a synched Amex at a retailer that has a current cashback Special. Some people (particularly with Amex cards from other providers) will get issues with cashback regardless of whether they check in or load correctly0 -
OK, syncing alone is not necessarily enough. I personally wouldn't rely on it working if you haven't followed the process correctly.
Remember, this isn't an Amex offer, it's an Amex/Foursquare offer, so the fact that Foursquare is involved means the social media aspects can't be completely unnecessary.Mortgage 1 Oct 11 - £118k @ 1.29%(BR+0.79) July 14 £118k

I agree with jimmy. I've done the proceed exactly as I should of done and still not got cash back. Amex say I've not loaded it even though I have. They speak to me like I'm a dumb whit-' did you check in at the retailer on foursquare' blah blah blah. So I tell them yes it works on my 11 other cards! Then they tell me it's because I can't have more than one card on foursquare account. So I tell them again I have separate foursquare accounts and I can show them my efficient spread sheet that's been in use since nov detailing which cards go with which email addy and foursquare acc and if I've loaded and redeemed or not.0

I tried to avail myself of the Shell special the other day but it wasn't showing via my Foursquare app. (Windows Phone 8.) Although, the special would show on their website.
I decided to check in anyway and buy the fuel. So I'm keeping my eyes open for the credit.
The last time a Foursquare credit didn't work (Carphonewarehouse purchase) I emailed Amex and they applied a manual credit.0 -

I'm pretty sure the offers don't work on Windows Phone.0 -
There does seem to be a glitch in the system. Or I've got it set up wrong. But I'm not doing anything different to what I was when I was on Android.
The app currently shows 18 specials. When I go to the specials tab/page it shows >18 retailers, with various (18) specials inbetween, e.g. Mayor Special, Newbie Special, Loyalty Special, Friends Special.
If I select a retailer, Shell is listed, their page shows no special.0 -
As per reclusive, the app does not work on Windows phones. See earlier in this thread. Discussed at length0

The thread is long and I have joined it late; I can only apologise for not reading it cover to cover.Bad news.
American Express
Which mobile devices can I see American Express offers within?
You can view American Express offers within the Foursquare app on iPhone, Android and Blackberry
Has anyone actually contacted Amex to ask about this? That clause reads to me as Amex having just regurgitated information taken/provided by Foursquare regarding platform support.
If you look at the FS website, they highlight very clearly the above information, but don't go to any great lengths to advertise the fact they now support W8.0 -
Sponge
I have actually brought up this problem with the windows phone a few pages back in this thread and it was pointed out to me that amex specials are not availble on this system yet.0
