  • Don't want to sound picky mate, but double posting is considered to be very bad forum etiquette. I know you are very worried but please be patient. someone will answer your questions (most likely after 5 as the real brains of this board are probably at work)

I wish you luck and hope that the regs here will be able to ease your mind and offer you some good practical advice.

  • Hi. I'm new to this so please bear with me!!

I need advice on how to start with making a claim for the Halifax to refund my bank charges of the past 6 years. I don't have all my statements but know that they must owe me a fair few quid!

I have a standard letter that I downloaded from another website, but this requires that I have all, or at least some, of my statements.

    Any suggestions will be welcome.
  • Hi,

You need to go to the Home page on this site and click on Bank Charges: Reclaim them, they’re unlawful, includes free template letters. That will
tell you everything you need to know.
    Or click on the link.

    Mark.
  • I've just had a look at the site. Am a bit reluctant to start the reclaim at the moment as I believe everything has been put on hold due to the test case. Do you think it's worth giving it a go, even if nothing will happen for a while?
  • Hi,
Ive started claims for accounts where the 6 years is close so as its registered and another account which Ive only had for a couple of years Ive left for now to see what happens.
So its up to you but remember you can only claim for the previous 6 years and thats on a rolling basis.

    Mark.

  • Hi

I know how you feel! HAILFAX nearly killed me a few weeks ago, my silly husband went overdrawn by 50 but in was in 9 transactions

They charged us £30 for every swicthed transaction.
    £90 a day for 3 days £270.00 plus £28

my heart sank! and my husband was about to run out the front door!!!!

After spending 5 hours calling all open branches, i found a lady (branch manger) who helped me, she refunded all of the chargers.

Just cant belieive how they are allow to charge up to £90 max a day. plus why does the transactions keep going through, why doesnt it decline?

i wish i read the t&c before i opened account!

I can say i no longer bank with the hailfax.

If i was you id call your local branch in the morning and talk to the manager and try and get them refunded. Try not to worry to much.

    Good luckx
