i am claiming and living in scotland ,i think my claim will be around £5000,i have spent the last 2 days looking on the forums and i am now confused as to what to do next ,do i write asking for full refund of charges ,do i include a spreadsheeet of charges
  • Yes you need to tell them what you are claiming for so include your spreadsheet. Check out the steps in Martin's article.

Its only when it comes to perhaps going to court that there are differences between claiming in Scotland.

  • From what you say, it means that BOS will not charge you the £10 for the information (statements) that you requested and that they will send you them shortly - they have 40 days in which to send them.

  • You might want to update your faq about bank charges being from £30-£35.
Yesterday i was hit with a charge of £40 for an unpaid £22 direct debit, i am disgusted.
Hopefully if i follow your advice i might get it back.

I got another letter today from bank of scotland stating:

    Dear mr brown

Complettion of request for a list of transactions and charges for accouts 1 2 and 3

Thank you for your letter requesting specific information on your accounts with us. I can confim that copies of duplicate statements have been ordered and will be sent under seperate cover

With regard to your request for information relating to manual intervention on your account, HBOS plc is under no statutory obligation to record this information and therefore, i am unable to assist firther with your request.

God know what that bit at the bottom means but hey sounds like im getting them soon.

  • Apologies if this is covered in a thread already but Im looking for help!

HBOS replied to my original claim on Nov 7th to say they are dealing with my claim and that I should have an answer within 4 weeks.
Today I get another saying they are still looking at it and it could now be as long as Jan 7th before I get an answer?

Should I accept this or should I be onto them challenging this delay?

    Any help would be great!

    Cheers
  • just spoke to them on the phone and they said that they have (by law) 8 weeks or less in which to resolve any complaints!
