Has anybody ever done 'scrapbooking'? It's not something I've ever even looked into, but it just sounds interesting. There's the crafts side of it (which I like the idea of doing, but am actually quite pants at doing), plus the idea that it could be an ongoing project, and could take on a life of its own. I joined Pinterest for vaguely similar reasons, but it's just not satisfying, and not the same.

As a teenager i loved scrapbooking. I havent done it since i left home at the age of 17.

I dont have any hobbies as such. I like reading but i keep falling asleep after a page or two. :o

If you like the outdoors and enjoy investigating, you could have a go at Geocacheing (not sure how its spelt!) I only heard about it on Simon Mayo's show the other week, but it sounds like quite a lot of fun..

or letterboxing http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Letterboxing_(hobby) (which is similar)

I've just spent the afternoon looking in to this and I think I have found a new hobby.

I can't wait to get started.

    Thank you :T
  • Interesting to read what different hobbies some people have - I didn't even know some of them exist lol. :rotfl:

I always have far too much to do, but looking back say 10 years ago I didn't have many hobbies, I think they definitely appear over time. I now find I don't have time to do all the things I'd like to do. Would be nice not to have to work :p

Well, I play tennis, badminton and have recently taken up jogging. I knit, cross stitch, sew (not clothes, just curtains etc). I also love to travel so spend a fair bit of time on the internet looking stuff up for that. And I also read general forums - like this one. I have also recently set up a website and really enjoyed that, and would perhaps like to do more of that. And then there's the general stuff like gardening. I never understand how anyone could be bored. I'd love to have the time to watch more films, maybe do voluntary work or set up more websites, and I have some jobs to do around the house, but struggle to get around to it.

I'm not the most interesting person, so feel free to gloss over this post. :)

Hobby wise, I play the guitar but that's mostly just for me. I don't perform anymore. I also don't sing because I can't, except when I dream.

I'm quite into films, all sorts and have had essays on cinema and specific films published on occasion due to writing for a few websites now and again. I do think about writing a novel as I have plenty of ideas but so far haven't had the motivation.

I play video games too which, yes, I know is stigamitised as being geeky, but I don't really care. RPGs and Hybrid-RPGs are great to lose yourself into for a few hours at a time and generally include various tasks and side-quests away from the main plot of the game, giving you versatility in how you play. And as much as I do like films, the best video games also have a story that involves you moreso than a film can because it's interactive and places you directly in the events occurring.

I do like other games too - the Total War series are fun but extremely time consuming and require some heavy PC hardware which I suppose brings me to what I might term fannying about with computers.

I've always enjoyed this. Except for the laptops, every PC I've owned since I was 14 I've built myself and it isn't hard to do. With some research, it is also a lot cheaper as you can build more powerful PCs for less money. There's a nice sense of accomplishment when you switch one on for the first time and set it all up. It's not something you can do on a daily basis of course but it gives you a side-hobby of keeping up with the latest technology.

Video editing is something I'd like to get into - custom music videos and the like.
  • I didn't really have hobbies either. I decided to change that this year, I've done some foraging, blogging, started comping and doing online stuff like reviewing stuff and recently started making a handmade quilt from all the free fabric samples I've got. Mostly stuff I can do from home or close to it as very cash strapped and live in a really rural quiet area.

    This website is my hobby!!:-)
Without kidding. I love people, love to chat, love to socialise. I do that a lot in real life, and when no one is available I come here.

Otherwise I only recently finished my professional qualifications (while at full time work), which took up a lot of my free time, so I am too finding that I need to find another hobby.

I took up baking, but need more mouth to feed (otherwise my OH will soon be massive) so do it only here and there. I cook a lot, I like cooking so I am going to start inviting more friends around for dinner party. And then chase a bargain to make sure that doesn't result in massive increase in my shopping bill:-))

I might start to learn another language.. But problem is I don't know which one and I would rather do attendance course then online course and I haven't done enough research on that yet.
  • I took up piano two years ago and have lessons every week. I don't always find the time to practice but enjoy my lessons etc, and getting new music books.
I am also doing a dress making course. Which I have found really enjoyable, and my first dress is nearly finished! I'm going to look into starting knitting and croceting in the new year.
  • am dram! It's sociable, fun and groups want people to do all sorts of things, not just acting.
