  • Good morning everyone and special hugs to PennyPincher, hope a day of rest helps settle things down a bit, and that you can find some comfort and relief.

I'm back to w*rk today after 3 weeks of sick leave, working from home today so a short commute:cool: , from the sitting room to my study - aka the spare bedroom - no bed in it at the mo.

I also have an appointment for a telephone consult with my specialist later this morning, so we'll see where he takes treatment from here - hopefully at a calmer pace than recently, it was a bit of a white knuckle ride! Onwards and upwards is the way to go.

No need to make a packed lunch today, so it will be soup, oatcakes, goat's cheese and an apple. For this evening, I was given a Somerfield lamb shank, it should be microwaved, but I'll take it out of its plastic and gently heat it in a pan and have it with cous cous and roasted veggies.

Thanks RacyRed, for the wonderful pic yesterday, I have saved it to use as a screensaver, and for the brilliant description of your al fresco breakfast today - so enjoyable to read of the antics of your wild friends!

For everyone back to the old routines of work, kids to school etc, big hugs and enjoy your day, here it looks like a beautiful one.

    Love

    Morning all

Queenie - If it's the same farm shop I went to yesterday then pick wisely, one of the cabbages I bought home was rotten on the inside - looked fine on the outside tho....but hey at 4 for £1 who can complain!

Moggins - Good luck with your new job.

PP - Hope you're feeling better soon.

I've got loads to do today - went to Broadstiars yesterday to kit out DD's with some summer bits and bobs - was a lovely drive along the coast and we got everything we went for :j

Got rid of some more stuff via freecycle last night - I'm now moderator of my local group - it's amazing what people ask for - the cheek!!

Going to whip the sofa covers off in a bit - they'll need all day on the line to dry, then it's attack each room in turn - the ironing basket is lost somewhere under the pile of clothes but I shall endevour to find it - I don't mind ironing - can't stand putting it all away though.

Dinner tonight will be something quick and easy - new pots and a pastryless quiche I think.

Hope you all have a great day.

Morning all. Good luck Moggins, though you won't need it, you'll do great. Second load of washing is in the machine - one more to go after that. I've just finished the ironing, I'll put the animals out in a mo and give their cages a long soak. I turned my work phone back on, I had a text from the boss, his girlfriend had a baby girl on friday HOORAY!!! They've called her Holly. Shame he was sooooo wrapped up in the baby he forgot to pay everyone last week ROFL. I'm waiting for moany phone calls from the blokes as I type LOL.
I'm going to have my lunch in a minute lol, I've been up since 3am and ate breakfast at 3.30 - I'm starving.

:D Oh ok, it's not really *my* menu plan ;) It's an Edwardian menu plan that I've copied over from the BBC. Don't know if anyone else is interested in it (I've been waiting a few weeks for this :) ) but their Edwardian Season begins on BBC4 tonight (:j)

BBC4 - Edwardians Tonights episode focuses on their food/eating habits
... Experts will be on hand to explain how, among other things, the Edwardians gave the world the Full English Breakfast, allowed women into restaurants (though strictly as decoration) and entertained on a table-creakingly grand scale at home...
    Should be interesting :D:D:D

  • Grrr! Why is DD fine all half term thend the day before they go back to school she is ill??!!

Shes been throwing up all yesterday evening and through the night and is now on the couch feeling sorry for herself cos she can't go to school. I think its a bug because i can't think of anything she has eaten that it could be caused with, plus i'm not feeling too good myself and we haven't eaten the same meals this weekend. Have got a docs app for her at 3.30pm, i'm worried about her dehydrating :(

Anyway some good news now, we get the keys for our new house tomorrow, its all signed and sealed :) :j I'm so excited! It does mean really tightening our belts for a while because of the work needing doing on it but thats no worry to me, i'm used to a tight budget - might taking a bit of work on DP though! He's never had to worry about money and doesn't understand my O/S ways lol. Though as long as he's fed he doesn't bother that much about how i do things, exactly how i like it lol.

B - 1/2 slice dry toast for DD, tea for me
D - No idea, DD prob wont eat and i'm not feeling too clever myself :(
T - Pasta bake, again prob only DP will be eating

    Take care all

    Good morning everyone :hello:

Good luck moggins in your new job.

(((hugs))) to Penny Pincher and jcr16's DD.

scuzz - you sound so happy now! It's so lovely. Bring us back some Mickey Mouse ears. :D

I'm waiting for the windscreen man to come to replace my poorly windscreen. I've got a few things to do out and about today, so I hope that he turns up soon. :o It's all happening with my car this month because I've just had to shell out for my new tax disc online. :o Thanks to Mr Brown, it's £10 more than it was last year and I've supposedly got an economical car. I'm a bit miffed really. Ah well, at least I know that I've just got to carry on saving those £2 coins!

We had a lovely weekend at our friends' house. They've got a nearly 3 year old who needed alot of attention, so the 3 men spent most of their time entertaining her whilst the ladies caught up with gossip! :D They went to so much effort over the food, with most of the recipes coming from those free Waitrose recipe cards.

Yesterday afternoon, we watched my "boys" playing at Twickenham and we were trying to get the nearly 3 year old to appreciate the "clever men". Unfortunately, she also predicted that a "clever man" in the wrong coloured shirt would get the ball in between the two posts, so we weren't best pleased. :rotfl:

Right, I'd better get on as I've got so much other stuff to sort out. :( This includes sorting out my AA cover - they want me to pay full price to renew it, but if I was a brand new customer, they would give me 20% off! And I've got to book a hotel room for a wedding that we're going to in September (I know we're invited because DH is an usher! :)).

    Breakfast: Porridge
    Lunch: Quiche (from Farmers' Market)
Dinner: Turkey stir fry with plenty of veggies and noodles

Have a good day everyone

    :hello: Morning OS'ers:hello:
:grouphug:To any one who needs one especially PP and Moggs...... :grouphug:

Up and have been out:eek:   Had to take the car in to get OH's argument with a bollard sorted, £700 + I have to pay the first £100.....more on the OD!!

We are just off an another run to the Age Concern shop with more bits I am shedding, also delivering a bowls bag OH wants shut of......then I have another journet up into the attic to put up some crates, if they will go.....not much else planned unless we investigate the cupboard and see if the carton with my clothes in is there..............

Place is livable in just,am sad that two of my kitchen chairs have to go, but we just do not have room for them, we have 7 chairs, one is a swivel office chair I use for my sewing machine, one folds up, so that will be ok ib the cupboard unless we need to use it, the other is a very pretty bentwood chair I bought some years ago for OH as a birthday present, I sometimes use it instead of the kitchen chair at the table, but it really belongs in the bedroom, once my big embroidery mmachine has gone, my swivel chair will go under the table and the bent wood in the bedroom to put clothes on.

:coffee:calls so I am off for now........................
    Was 13st 8 lbs,Now 12st 11 Lost 10 1/4lbs since I started on my diet.
