I have asked phil that very question several times, in more or less the same words. ;)

Phil it's a shame that you don't understand how you come across. If you put the same energy into your course and living some sort of social life, as you put in posting all your woes and navel gazing, you'd struggle far less. Nobody can make you see this phil, and shame you do not get it, because you are destined to irritate peeps here more and more. Let alone an employer.

Q, I have lots of good qualities and I do get if I could let them shine through then my life would be a lot better and so would my posts be more positive.

Now you just sound petulant  What exactly is it that you want the people on here to do for you? Don't you see that the only person who can change things is you?

I have asked phil that very question several times, over on the DT Board, in more or less the same words. ;)

Oh, and that MSE is not the appropriate forum for what amounts to in-depth counselling someone who DOES NOT want to do a f..k about his own life but wants the world and his dog to do it all for him.

EDIT - Sorry slow site - I edited and posted AGAIN :o

I do not intend to get negative posts and annoyance. It is fine for people to have a go but when your course has slowly killed you inside for three years I just do not think they can understand how bad it feels.

    Phil,

You are an adult - only you can change things.

You could have changed your course, but you haven't.

You could have looked for a job, but you haven't.

Doing courses you don't enjoy might not be a bundle of laughs, but it doesn't "kill you inside" - only real tragedy and hardship does that!

Finish your essays - if you fail, well the world will still turn - it's not the end of the world - and it's not that easy to fail exams nowdays anyway. ;)

I work with disabled people, and some of them have difficulties you couldn't even begin to contemplate - yet they have more motivation than you ever do - at least they try to make their lives as positive as possible.

The best thing you could do is to get a job (any job), save up and go out and make your way in the world - get away from your parent's house, and put yourself into a situation where you have to look after yourself.

You appear over reliant on everyone else for their approval and opinions - forget them, make a decision and just do it!

    Lin :)
You can tell a lot about a woman by her hands..........for instance, if they are placed around your throat, she's probably slightly upset. ;)

I think a degree does make it easier in life to get promotions according to the data I have seen as to how much more quickly graduate get pay rises compared to non- graduates.

Correlation is not causation. How more likely are the graduates to AIM for a promotion/pay rise than non-graduates?

A degree is only necessary if your field/employer deems it necessary. You can't be a doctor without one but you can be in management without one. It's a case by case basis really and you need to remember that the wrong degree can harm your career.

I know I am a failure and useless and not being able to get a 2:1 says that.

I know though now the time clock is on that I have to work hard in these last few weeks and I might be able to come out with a half decent mark.

Phil if you really feel this low and unhappy with yourself then you should think about getting some professional help. If your GP's approachable speak to them or try your local family health centre. Alternatively try contacting the Samaritans for help and support whenever you need it.

We all need support and medical help sometimes and from what you've been saying in this thread you need it now.

These people without degrees that think there 3 years extra experience over a graduate will win them a job really do make me laugh.

End of the day 3 more years down the line a graduate has the 3 years you had plus a degree but you still wont have a degree will you?

The jelousy of people that dont take higher education is so obvious its funny, its like a rotton stench.
