They actually rang me at home to tell me they'd found it and put it in their safe
Nice one on finding a serial offender!
I remember when I was younger I lost my phone in a taxi, it must have fallen out of a hole in my bag which I didn't discover until later. The taxi driver actually turned around and delivered it back to me at my door when I called it to find it. Restored my faith in human nature that did.
Glad you got a result (of sorts) OP! I must admit, this thread has fascinated me!Have I helped? Feel free to click the 'Thanks' button. I like to feel useful (and smug).0 -
I was told by the police that they sent the drop-box link (linked to my phone which updated as he added photo's) to their intel team and the council (who employed him as a taxi driver I believe). They obviously have a register and ID as someone stated earlier and tracked the man that way.Who are you to judge the life I live? I know I'm not perfect and don't live to be. This has been an excellent thread. As a result, I've enabled SamsungDive on my OH's S3. Can see where she is now!

Just speculating but if he works for the council then he should have undergone a CRB check. Presumably, this would have been clear or he wouldn't have been employed.
So, despite him having possibly been involved in the theft of phones before this may be the 1st time he's been nicked...0 -

I would also assume this would of been the case.
But how many would he of gone on to take and not get caught? Who knows!? I'm glad this thread has helped more of you out with regards to keeping track of your phone. I bet there are a lot of people who have lost phones and just thought oh well.... and left it at that. Now it gives people a bit of hope. Just through Google, Dropbox & Samsung's integration I've been able to accomplish what I didn't think was possible. This prepare's me now for what could arise in the future. :rotfl:Who are you to judge the life I live? I know I'm not perfect and don't live to be. He would have been CRB checked too
To be honest hats off to the intel team for swiftness as it took Birmingham over 3 weeks to trace a driver a couple of years ago and that was a more serious case of ABHIt's not just about the money0 -
I love this thread. It restores my faith in justice. However, I also think it has to be a contender for this site http://www.shortlist.com/home/worlds-dumbest-criminals
But OP looks as if he could dine out on this tale for years.
Cheers, buddy.

He won't have "worked for the Council" but will have been licensed by them to operate a Taxi.

I know I was quite surprised.
I achieved all this by email, I filled out a 'non-emergency' form online and got replies within a couple of hours. I was very impressed.Who are you to judge the life I live?
