Lets look at another angle...
What if the taxi driver sold the phone and this person bought it. He might be a innocent.
We just have to wait and see what police say.0 -

The taxi driver may not even be involved, it could be the next passenger that discovered the handset on the seat.
Ah but in post #1 the OP said he recognised the driver in some of the dropbox pictures....
Still find it hard to believe he's in custody for that though. Wonder if he'll get bail?I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the In My Home MoneySaving, Energy and Techie Stuff boards. If you need any help on these boards, do let me know. pinpointing the person wouldnt work. triangulation isnt that accurate.0 -

It could pinpoint down to the house or location the phone is in, the iphone version does, and I don't see any reason why the android apps wouldn't as well.
As an example, this is "find my iphone", the phone is about 3 or 4 meters from its marked position.(it's inside the house where the dot has dropped).====0 -

Exactly. 3 or 4 meters isnt "right down to the person holding it"0 -
The man did get taken into custody yesterday - on what grounds I'm not so sure as I've heard nothing more. But the pictures on the dropbox link, (the first 10/20 anyway) are definitely of the taxi driver. As a taxi driver, he has a duty to hand in to the local police force if something is found in his taxi - he was employed by the council. The proof is in the pudding? If you don't hand it in, it's theft? excuse me if I'm wrong.Who are you to judge the life I live? I know I'm not perfect and don't live to be. if this taxi driver has been arrested, then he would be in police custody , i had a problem with a taxi driver keeping my phone many years ago now, luckily i got mine back.
i have been following this thread with interest, its amazing what can be done with phones these days.
i hope this taxi driver 'if' he did steal your phone gets the book thrown at him.0 -
At the risk of sounding cynical, he'll probally just get a caution.
Still, being nicked ought to liven him up a bit!0
