I doubt anyone would have expected anything else. Except it sounds like you want the guy "dealt with" for dangerous driving, when this was purely in your own opinion and certainly not backed up by your version of events or the action of those who actually investigated at the scene.

Would you mind telling us what would be a suitable outcome to this for you?

To find out if the guy should be driving, maybe with his age he needs to be retested. I was there and so were numerous other people.....what he did was wrong.....it could have been avoided.....but he couldn't bother drivinv round the roundabout again.....was he in a rush.....only an investigation can tell

I would like to point out that even though the police attended.....they didn't investigate anything except to make sure we exchanged numbers and to give us proof that they attended. Don't know if that's the norm

As he has a LGV licence he has medicals to determine fitness to drive. When did you last have one?

!!!!!! the bloke made a mistake, deal with it. He can't of been in that much of a rush as he would have turned it over at 53-mph.

Damage only collision so no need for them to be there.

And goes to show you didn't make any allegation of dangerous driving at the time.

Actually I did say to them the guy was driving dangerously and went into me. They said call your insurance and exchange details....oh and they made sure everyone was ok ...rightly so

Well either the witnesses disagree or you best make a complaint for neglect of duty.

With some turnings a HGV will need to chose a more outside lane to be able to make the turn. Often people do not realise this and drive up the inside lane the HGV driver has left empty and a collision occurs.

Saw a single decker bus do this to a mobile crane last week with pedastrian barriers on the inside of the bus.

    Driving is a tricky business.

It isnt an exact science and there are so many variables.

    Inevitably mistakes happen.

Thats why we have insurance. Now we forum members are trying to make sense of something in the cold light of day, without direct experience and involvement and with no clear picture as to the scene and the circumstances.

Meanwhile the OP is physically, financially and psychologically involved.

    Its an emotional experience.

There are hundreds of accidents up and down the country every day.

The important thing from the OPs point of view is that

    No one was physically hurt
The other party seems to have accepted liability

In theory then there should be no physical, material or financial loss.

I would therefore say that there is nothing further to be gained from pursuing this matter other than creating further anxiety.

I would add that in my "company " vehicle, i have had installed for a couple of months now,the el cheapo continuous video recording cam as available on ebay and it has proved most useful.

So far it has recorded an imbecile who verbally abused me and made threats of violence simply because i would not get out of his way.

One day it will collect evidence either in my defence or to help me prosecute a case.
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..

Have I wronged you in some way.....or do you just have a chip on your shoulder.....you have made horrible comments and sarcy ones and I can't understand why.....even presumed I drive a fiesta...to imply I don't know what its like to drive a large vehicle....I have driven a large vehicle and know how much extra vigilance is needed...though I haven't driven anything larger than a van.

Maybe your on a power trip as the Sgt would imply
Just give it a rest now.....it's not funny but pathetic

I'm ending this and reminding you that the driver accepted full liability even rhough my insurers said its split on roundabouts. He did this because he knows he was fully in the wrong.

Respond if you're gonna get a kick out of it.....but I've said the truth and i got the help I needed from 3 good replies. I'm finished with this thread, got the email details and more. Thanks to those who helped. No need for me to check the thread again.....I do have a life....unlike some

OP I'm not going to dispute the fact that the driver caused the accident.

I have no doubt that the experience was scary for you and your children. I remember being very shaken following a minor accident with a small car. I can imagine a collision with a HGV that hasn't realised the situation straight away must have been very distressing.

Unfortunately, I think you're failing to recognise that accidents happen. That's why we all have car insurance. We're human and we all make mistakes sometimes. I'm sure the HGV driver was shaken up afterwards and the accident has probably resulted in him being a bit more cautious with his driving.

I think you have to move on and stop trying to pursue what was clearly an accident.
