Shouldnt this thread be placed back on track, this hasn't got anything to do with references. If we all want to talk about SP's mental deficiencies perhaps a new thread should be opened?

I am not full of deficiencies, but I just hate essay writing.

Not yet. Still in my 20s but with 14 years work experience.

A degree is useful Phil, but not essential. I know several people that are proof of that.

Not what this thread is about though, and I have to drive back to London now.

    safe drive!!

One more big push, and it'll all be over in 6 weeks and you can forget about the academic world. After that, you need never write another essay or study further.

What a joy it will be, but I might need a Masters to get on in life, so I might have to suffer some more yet.

I might do a PG Cert/ Diploma as it is practical, but not the full masters as that would requie another thesis.

See my previous comment about skating uphill  Are you sure this isn't just a diversionary tactic to avoid getting a job? I can't think of many areas where a Masters would open a door that a BA/BSC doesn't. Academia doesn't seem to be your thing, so I'm surprised you want to put yourself through it further when it's not necessary.

Couldn't agree more - at entry level, post graduate study seems to close more doors than it opens (academic careers somewhat, but not totally, an exception)...

I would do it part time.

I might just need a bit of PG study if I want an academic related job and to get promotion at a university as most people have higher degrees even to run the timetabling.

After talking with some part time students i would say part time is even more challenging than full time as you have to fit it round a full time job!!.....doubt the people that do the timetables need higher degrees (esp at my uni where it takes them ages to get it right with no clashes!!)

Even people in the more day to day running/ business management side of universities often have higher degrees, so if you go into that then you are going to need higher degrees for promotions.
