Beth, I sort of tried this - put the potatoes in raw though and they could have done with being a little bit softer. Also I used Swiss Ementhal cheese and that didn't melt properly, just went into large blobby pieces. The smell was gorgeous though.
I think you could put apples in this, too and have it with pork chops.
Thnx for recipe - will try it with cheddar next time.
add cold tea, sultanas brown sugar, raisins, orange peel, ginger cinnamon stick great flavour even a dash of wine/ cider doesnt go a miss
Great favourite with everyone once they try it with good old custard, cream, ice cream or have it for breakfast yummy
I also cook my marmalade peel in the slow cooker saves watching the pot and as I leave the pith pips etc in the jelly bag dripping over night as well saves loads of time and I think it gives a better flavour
bet it gives you awful wind though... ;D
............that must be why you put the ginger in ;D

(I can't beleive the bigger one is cheaper than the smaller one on Amazon?)
I was going to buy the £33 one from Asda then I saw the Amazon one on here so I ordered it from there.
It arrived this morning, can't wait to start trying some of these fab recipies.
I'm just a bit worried about the electric bill! Does anyone know if they are expensive to run..even on low..the pot gets very hot and remains so for hours!
thanks
has anyone ever cooked them in slow cooker?
if so how much water should I use?
cathy
