I used my slow cooker for a spag bol the other day for the first time as i was going to be out all day. It was the best spag bol i have ever done!!! The mince was really tender.Life may not be the party we hoped for, but while we're here we should dance....0 -
Try....
800g Lamb or beef
18 chipolatas
2 heaped tablespoons of flour
1 red onion
carrots
parsnip
mushrooms
1 dessert spoon of Marmite
2 heaped tablespoons of pearl barley
1/2 pint of rich ale
small handfull of fresh rosemary, leaves picked and chopped.
Mix the rosemary, beef and flour and fry in a little oil or just add everything, I have done it both ways and its always sticky and good.

Hi All,
I am trying to create dinner for later tonight - I would like to use my shiny new slow cooker but only have chicken breast! I notice lots of recipes use whole/jointed chicken.
2 questions - is it ok to replace with chicken breast rather than thigh for example? Also I have a Homepride White wine cook in sauce - can I add this and some potatoes to make a meal?
I would really appreciate any inspiration!
Many thanks,
Rachel0 -

Personally I wouldn't use the SC to reheat meat that's already cooked, I would worry about it getting dried out. You could just make gravy (recipes in other threads quite recently) and reheat the beef slices in that.0 -
hmm, i wondered that. oh well, its in now!!0

I've just purchased a slow cooker and am useless in the kitchen, hence I would like an EASY recipe for a lamb or beef stew (or both) please.
Nothing complicated please, just a basic tasty lamb or beef stew and also a spaghetti bolognaise one please.
Can anyone help? It would be appreciated.
Oh BTW it's only for one person, but I'd like to make a little bit more so I can freeze the stuff and use it at a later date.
Thank you again.
Minced beef is sooooooooooooo greasy, you drain it if you cook it on the hob, when left in the slow cooker it just swims in grease not nice & not very healthy, trust me on this one...................I tried it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:rotfl:Kat :money:0 -
I've got the following ingredients that I need to use up:
aubergene
courgette
green peppers
I've got other ingredients such as carrots and onions etc too/
Anyone got any recipes that I can use in my slow cooker.
Thanks0 -
Easy, cut your veggies into chunks, add chopped onion & garlic, and brown in a little oil in a pan. Put into SC with two tins of chopped tomatoes and a splash of sherry or red wine if you have any, season with salt & black pepper and switch on for a few hours until veggies are tender. Et voila, Ratatouille.Official DFW Nerd No 096 - Proud to have dealt with my debt!0
