  • I'm only after a soup maker, but it is the sort of thing I would have expected them to try to get rid of?

Other stores should cotton on to this gimmick.

Put all your prices up to the RRP, or at least higher than any other shop or anywhere on the internet, then anounce a massive sale with upto 30% off everything. You will have customers flocking to your shop hoping to grab a bargain, but in reality they are just paying the normal going rate at any other shop.

I called in quickly on my lunch, looked at a kettle, had been put upto the full RRP then with 20% off, it was still cheaper to buy from currys. Yet there was only one left on the shelf.

They already have cottoned on - 'Sports (70% off) Direct' are the masters of this.
The one near me promises to close down 15 times a year!!!

If only comet had thought of this a couple of months ago, they would probably have sold more than enough stock to stop them going bust.

I can't believe so many people would actually be so naive to buy something because they think they are getting a bargain.
  • I went to Sainsburys today to get my groceries and had a quick look at their electrical stuff. It was all on offer.
They had a gorgeous flat screen 40" TV for £249. When I asked the sales assistant why they are so cheap she said it was because they get their products currently through comet and so are selling it off before they begin a new contract elsewhere.

Ahh, it all makes sense now TBeckett100, you buy a MacBook Pro for a 4 year old, you're obviously off your rocker :rotfl:

  • I popped in at lunch. The staff were really lovely and were really upbeat. I made sure I wished the girl well who served me and she said she had an interview this afternoon.

I managed to pick up my xmas pressie from OH. Would have been slightly cheaper online by a pound or so but OH doesn't 'do' online shopping......

I also managed to get a new kettle as ours was broken, again would have got it a pound cheaper online but it saved delivery charges and having to wait for it.

Yeah, it was 990 down to 900?
