Ah poop, well you live and learn I guess, best of luck with the job hunt.
yes , live and learn indeed! only way to look at it really, hindsight is a marvellous thing in these situations and i could kick myself but hey ho , nowt i can do about it now. at least i'm still going to get a good reference which one of the main things i was concerened about.0 -

sorry to hear this
i was pretty sure you just wanted to "fit in" and get on with your colleagues by showing you were one of them...
for this reason i was hoping you would be given the benefit of the doubt
did you mention this in your hearing?
good luck with the appeal, there are lots of helpful people on here who will give you some excellent advice

i did explain , although it was hard face to face to say everything i wanted so i also had a letter ready explaining it all and apologising. I know i was in the wrong but i do think sacking was a bit OTT *running away before the hollier than thou bunch shoot me down* ;0)0

Might have been nice of you to leave the posts for the next person that decides to do this as I am sure there will be a lot more as seeing these stories on the press and online over the years hasnt counted for much
There will be others who will do the same, a shame the OP did it let alone only after 4 months in the job.
Good luck with finding a new job OP.0 -

Ah well, that's something at least. Good luck with the appeal

I hope you live and learn from this then eh??
Personally if you'd been there longer than 4 months and hadn't started this page then you'd have stood a better chance of keeping your job. You seem like a loose canon.
And FWIW, I've made mistakes, had *redundancy* and even verbal/written warning in a job. So there's no way I'm setting myself up as *holier than thou*.0 -
Sorry to hear about the sacking, but delighted to hear about the reference. All in all a positive outcome in my mind (I actually think a sacking with a good reference is probably preferable to a FWW with doom hanging over your head).Ex board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).0

It's a silver lining that your employer has said she will give you a good reference, but make sure to get it in writing. I used to work for an agency as a steward at football games. I didn't leave under any kind of cloud, they just stopped offering that type of work. When I was looking for a new job I asked the manager of the agency if he would be happy to give me a reference and he said he would. Then I rang him on the morning of an interview to double check I could give him as a referee. Good job I did because he completely changed his tune! Suddenly he said he couldn't give me a good reference because apparently I had been AWOL on a number of occasions! That was the first I knew about it, I was off sick once but I phoned in. I think there must have been some misunderstanding, perhaps he thought I had been asked to work on days I hadn't or confused me with someone else because I have a common name but it was too late to sort it out and I had to scramble to find a new referee hours before an interview! I don't know why he didn't address the issue earlier when I was with the agency or when I asked for a reference. Anyway my point is don't rely on a reference until it has been confirmed, make sure you know what she will say so it doesn't affect future opportunities.0
