SATURDAY 14th APRIL OS DAILY

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Saturday the 14th April 2007. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Good morning everyone......

been up for an hour now !!!!!! dont feel like doing anything this morning !!!!!!!! so im going to drink lashings of coffee and read through some of the recipee threads....

hugs to everyone who wants or needs one .... be back in a while

Good morning everyone! Another foggy start here. I'm down to take the Small Penguins to swim club, so I'm hoping it clears up soon, as I want to run along the riverbank while they're there.

Took the Small Penguins to the garden centre yesterday. Bought some new hanging baskets, and some clay pots to put into wrought iron planters that my MIL bought me for my birthday. Also got a trolley-full of plants. DD and I will be planting them this afternoon. I met a friend while we were there, who was accompanied by her DS (who's a friend of my DS). She took Master Penguin with her, so I took Miss Penguin to the farm shop for *afternoon tea*. She had a huuuuuuge piece of Victoria sponge - more than enough for both of us :D I also indulged in some Toulousse sausages, cherry tomato and feta tartlets and a cheese and red onion loaf. DD got chatting to the owner who gave her the ingredients for their delicious-looking flapjack (peanut butter, apricot, sunflower and pumpkin seeds). DD told me as we left that we could make that ;)

We planted strawberry runners when we got home, then finished burning the clippings in a bonfire.

DD then made some pasta, and we had it with smoked salmon and gorgonzola sauce - yummy

Off to have a cup of tea and find my running shoes.

Have a Fab weekend, Penny. x

Hi Amie, Hi Penelope and all those who post after me! Been up since 4.30 - had one cup of tea and one cup of coffee, completed a survey, checked my emails, read a bit of the newspaper (doom and gloom, as usual, so stopped reading it - I'm feeling positive today and don't want it spoilt!), have written out my shopping list ready to hit the Co-op at 8.00 a.m. OH and I are visiting our nearest town to do some charity shopping today; we always have fish and chips when we do a Saturday charity shop day - the only time we have chips but it means I won't have to cook tonight! Need to catch up a bit on housework - worked yesterday at short notice so, because I'd lazed about on Thursday, I have to do what I should have done yesterday! OH busy for the next four weeks so I'll have the house to myself - which I love because it doesn't happen often enough! Have lots of things planned that have had to be put on hold whilst he has been working from home and am really looking forward to doing them - things like menu-planning, catching up on letter-writing before the friends I keep in touch with by mail think I've disappeared, cooking, spring-cleaning (especially the big storage cupboard in the bathroom that has just had things thrown into it since Chritmas! Looks a real mess now and must be tackled! Must also clean the oven - oh, joy!! Have also sorted out my mending pile and will definitely try and get it all done next week.

Washing machine on already with another load waiting. Want to get it all out on the line before I go out. Porridge ready to cook when DH gets up. Was so tired I was in bed by 10.15 last night but still woke up at 1.30 - came downstairs because I couldn't get back to sleep but resisted the urge to turn on the computer, back to bed at about 2.00 then up again an 4.30! Will want an afternoon nap for sure but don't feel that tired right now - I know it will catch up with me - probably when we go into town and OH is driving - I'll fall asleep on the way!

Getting lighter outside now and the birds are going mad - will take another coffee out there, I think, then have a shower, get the OH up, have breakfast - I'm starving, that's one of the problems of getting up early - then get down to the Co-op - I love shopping early. Will call in later to let you know what bargains I found in the charity shops! Have a great day - lots of hugs to all those who could do with them and hope the weather is great wherever you are!:j :hello: :hello: :hello:    :grouphug: :coffee: :coffee: :coffee:

    Morning :D

Foggy here too..... I haven't looked at the forecast so unsure if it is here to stay.
Should have gone out for drinks last night with another couple (I can't stand the man of the couple) so I felt railroaded into going. I made a comment that I would go and enjoy myself this time but DH not to book to go out with them again.... well!! 13 year old mardy fit it was like I had took his football from him:eek: ...... never mind

Anyway today I am ironing  to make it a little better I will put a dvd on and watch a film.

We have some more turf to lay so [STRIKE]mardy bum[/STRIKE] DH will be doing that. And just enjoy the kids :D

Have a lovely day to all.

    Hi everyone!
Couldn't sleep so have come on here with my cuppa!
Having had yesterday off the washing is done and dry so just needs putting away. Plans for today are to take the small person to wildlife explorers and then head off into town for some much needed me time and retail therapy aka nosing around charity shops. I mainly need to get the small person some bits for his up and coming school trip...wellies which I know for a fact he'll never wear again. Aargh! Also have his and my Dad's birthday to plan for and that always takes a bit of planning for!
OS today will be putting in some freesia bulbs my Mummy gave me last night. I also appear to have stockpiled loads of carrots and reduced coriander so I think I shall put the two together and make a pan of soup. No cooking tonight though because we have friends over for a Chinese. Yeessss Result!!
    Enjoy the sunshine

    Morning All

Yesterday was obviously a blip, DD is currently lying next to me in our bed and DH is in her bed. At least now we have a spare bed for him to go in.

Got quiet alot on today so I will get up shortly. Plans for the day included nipping to Tesco for some milk and yoghurts, sorting out piles of laundry and at some point going to see the in-laws before they embark on a months holiday. There going on a cruise round the carribean then across the atlantic and round the med, lucky things. I think I'll leave that till after the horse racing starts as they live about 2 miles from Aintree and it will be mad busy round there today.

Tea is going to be a frozen Asda takeaway curry out of the freezer, tomorrow we are having a nice chicken so I need to remember to get that out as well.

    Have a good day everyone

morning all - i fell asleep with the light on left my phone downstairs so woke up and bounded down the stairs thinking it was late. woke dd up with the bounding so she's up and full of beans so i think i'll stay up now. In an effort to wean dd off the holiday telly we have been cooking and gardening with her. Yesterday she and dad made a lovely crumble. When I asked what was in it she said "some fruit" so I guess her mind was on other things :)
plans today are to tidy the garden, clean the house and go to brentford to watch the footie even though we are already relegated :(
I'm going to feed our children non-organic food and with the money saved take them to the zoo - half man half biscuit 2008
  • Morning all! Foggy here too, I hope it's not long until it clears.

Had a great night out with friends last night, imbibed FAR too much wine but it was great to see them. Not sure what time I went to bed but I'd forgotten that I'd made two loaves of bread yesterday so was sawing those into doorstep slices at some time past midnight, it will be interesting to see what shape my breakfast toast is in this morning :rotfl:

I have a bit of planting out to do today, need to make some banana bread for DS20 to take back to uni with him tomorrow and of course, that pile of ironing grows ever greater :o

On a non-OS technical note, I can't see anyone's avatars any more, have cleared my cookies and cache, does anyone have any bright ideas as to how I can get them back?? thanks!

    have a lovely Saturday all!

    Morning everyone

Another early riser here. Had falling out with XDH, which I think is to blame. DD has loads of homework to do during the holidays as she takes her SATs shortly after going back to school next week. DD has been with XDH for last week and they have done precisely none of it! So, my time with DS and DD will be spent getting the homework done and trying to have lots of good quality time too. I'm just so angry at how inconsiderate he is. rant over.

We are going into town today to pick up my reserved books from the library and visit the market to pick up some barbecue stuff. One of the meat stalls has some fantastic burgers and marinaded chicken so I think we will be tempted there. The weather is supposed to be good over the whole weekend so lots of fresh air will be the order of the day.

My bargain camera arrived yesterday (a Kodak digital camera for just £30! :j ) so we may try that out too.

Oh, and I will be replacing the lock on my back door. I just have to make sure I buy the right replacement. ;)

Right, off for tea and a bacon butty. Have a super Saturday. xx

Edited to say: Happy Birthday to Pink-winged Jr and Kyle's LO Hope they both have a lovely day.

    Mornin' all :)

Didn't do a thing to the boys room yesterday and the arrival of the new beds is getting pretty close, so today I WILL sort the junk out of their room.

Other than that I have a pretty quiet day ahead of me. Got 3 loads of washing to do - but thats normal here so I do that on auto-pilot, first load is on and will be out on the line within 1/2 hour. Lawn needs mowing, but it has done for over a week now, so will try to talk DH into doing it as it is a job that I really hate!

Dinner tonight is Lentle Tacos (baisically veggie tacos!) filling in the SC now ready for cooking early afternoon, will make up a salad to go with it in a moment and keep it in the fridge for tonight. I try to not cook anything that needs looking after as it is cooking (IYSWIM) on a Saturday as it is our 'family night' - we flop on the sofa watching a film when we are eating and then play silly board games like Cranium with the kids. I love Saturday evenings!

Pretty cloudy here this morning but the forcast looks good - have a great day everyone :)
