MSE News: Ryanair forces ALL customers to pay booking charge

But that is the point, stop whingeing about the detail, look at the bottom line and tell me that Ryanair is not the bargain of the century for travel.
I've just booked a flight with them, mainly thanks to this thread, spotted a bargain while I was looking at their siteSo if they mislead? Are you appointing yourself as Misleading Advertising Inspector? If so you can find yourself plenty of other big institutions with really outrageous advertising claims and blatant promotional lies.
All Ryanair have been told to do is display their prices differently. They don't need to change their pricing at all. Instead of £12 plus a £6 admin fee if you haven't got the Ryanair card, they just need to display £18 with a £6 discount if you've got the card. Simples. No change to anyone's prices.
If people who say "everything is perfectly clear" are right, then why aren't they doing this? Explain. At least Ryanair delivers its headline promise - "the low-cost airline".0 -
No matter what people say, Ryanair are cheap and even cheaper if you used common sense and played them at their game by getting a card
If you could not be bothered to get a card--- ahh just remembered the golden rule
Never argue with stupid people, theybring you down to their level and then beat you with experience0 -

It distorts competition and is an unfair commercial practice. That's why giving a misleading indication of price is a breach of Regulation 5(4)(g) of the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008. Ryanair exploited a legal loophole by deflating advertised fares by £6 based on payment method. That loophole is now being closed by Article 19 of Directive 2011/83/EU on Consumer Rights.
No, the OFT and the ASA do that.
Ah, so a legal loophole is not to be used? Why ever not - what about Sunday opening with stores opening, but not selling, before ten am.
Besides, giving a discount to own card holders - what do you all think a Tesco loyalty card is?
And if you want to talk legal stuff, try this one - caveat emptor.
You still have the option of not flying Ruanair.......0 -

Why doesn't Ryanair simply include the £6 "admin fee" in its fares and then give a £6 discount to those who pay by its favoured payment method? The reason it doesn't do this (which would continue to be allowed) is because this would not facilitate a misleading indication of price, which is the objective of the so-called "admin fee".
Does anyone disagree that the sole purpose of Ryanair's £6 admin fee is to legitimise a misleading indication of price?0 -
As of 1 Dec 2012 I think the following will apply:
Flights originating from UK: £6 fee unavoidable
Flights originating from Ireland, Spain, Italy, Germany: €6 admin fee avoidable by using Cash Passport
Flights originating from any other country: €6 admin fee (or local equivalent) avoidable either by using Cash Passport or prepaid Mastercard
Therefore people might want to consider booking two one-way flights rather than one return flight.0 -

ETA: actually it wasn't that recent: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/29191000 -
Agreed - also I think if they cancel and refund the outward flight, you may be more likely to get a refund of the inbound flight if it has been booked as a return flight.
It's also worth pointing out that a ticket for a flight priced in euros tends to be cheaper than a ticket for the same flight priced in sterling.0 -

That'd be me. Ryanair are not in the business of misleading people, no more than any other business that offers headline "Free Doohickey with every two purchased" and then you find that "rules and conditions apply" and the one doohickey you want is not included in the offer. Wake up, this is in nearly every retail outlet in the UK.
And what about all those other retailers who charge a fee to use your credit card - no mention of that in their list prices. Why not knock them. unless you work for Easyjet or BA. If anyone goes onto the Ryanair site expecting to pay simply the flight cost they must be dunderheids, like those who turn up at the departure gate with two enormous suitcases (and I've seen 'em) because they have not bothered to read the rubric.
If you don't like Ryanair's practise to the extent you persist in knocking them, why fly with them? Where's your sense of pride? Why not just boycott them and that would really show 'em wouldn't it?
Why do millions fly every year with Ryanair - because they are still the best value travel organisation around and despite all your petty carping, those millions accept the bottom line for what it is, a bargain.0
