Could I add my 2 cents?

I agree some stuff can get a bit old and I do worry people arent getting the answers they need.

But I have so much help and support from the social side of dfw.

Whens it Saturday night and we need to socialise but cant afford to go out the threads that appear are brilliant keeps me laughing all night. So in a way still very dfw... We're not spending money talking and sometimes it gets silly and but thats why I am still here.

The support I get here is unparralled my thread/diary going away... Ok its not dfw but if my move happens I'm going to need to start selling stuff and all you guys have so many hints tips and great advice. My story is I am debt free and now I am hopefully going on to living my dream, I know I amno hero etc but does this not give inspiration to others that at the end of the tunnel life will be great?

Same with the other clubs etc these give hope rather than just talking about debt,

If there is any problems I will happily stop posting on the thread but I dont think this will help.

People do come here to socialise.

ok I'm done dont all shoot me :D

    bring back oakdale and moozie!

I dont agree that moving diaries would the the right thing to do - after all it was reading Moozies diary that sparked me off- and I know loads of other diaries inspire others and thats important. I think we had a long discussion some while ago about the diaries being moved onto a child board ( like bankrupcy has been)and Martin felt this wasnt a good idea.

You do realise that some of us also post in the ebay/carboot/jumble board as well? :D NOw theres also people on the ebay board ( soolin and others) who are VERY knowledgeable about selling, postage, packing, listings etc that dont come here- I fear some of us are missing out on great experience & knowledge elsewhere on the board by "playing safe". I think thats a real shame, Ive certainly not be "shot down" on other boards for asking a specialist question before

INcidentally IARMW theres a really interesting discussion in silver savers about living abroad and I also recommend another board "long haul" on the lonely planet thorn tree board for specialist advice about living overseas. I find the LP message board excellent for things like this :)

I agree snaggles, that the board guides should move threads that should be elsewhere, but I know nearly rich has llimted time and has anyone seen plumpmouse recently  maybe one of us could volunteer to be a board guide, IM certain this would help a bit more keep the board free from nonsense. but the other thing is we are all users of this space, we should al be thinking ( as long term users) "is it right to post this here or is there somewhere more relevant" and all take responsiblity for the space we share.

@Toto - I think the nastiness comes from cliquiness. Thats certainly not my opinion only, a number of people have PMed me to this effect :(
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
    This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast

    Oh dear,
I am enjoying this debate but I feel somewhat guilty (is this because I should or just because I have an over developed guilt gene?-I don't know) but I love both sides of this board and perhaps I am guilty of being frivilous sometimes...(ok, a lot of the time?) but this board has given me huge support when I needed it most.

I miss Oakdale Minx, she's never far from my mind because I really admire her determination and I wish I could be more like her...

Hope you guys don't mind me giving a bit of an insight into the BG role it might help to explain a few things.

First off I work fulltime, sometimes I am working at home so then I can check on the forum during the day when I am having a break from the real job, other times I am out and about or even away for a day or two on business, with or without access to the web, depends on where I am staying and whether I have anything to do in the evenings.

I never, ever read every post on DFW or the other 3 boards I am allocated to because I just haven't got time, so if I do read a thread and then move it to somewhere more appropriate but then next day I miss a thread that should have been moved I am not picking on anyone honest. There are clear rules about what should go where on the forum, some stuff gets overlooked in DFW and the odd social thread is OK but a line has to be drawn and I will move posts to the appropriate place when I notice them, I know some people get upset if their thread is moved, please don't take it personally, if you know there is somewhere better to post it please hep me by postig it there.

If you see something that you class as abuse please, please report it, if it's spam or someone offering a DMP or someone being nasty to another poster, it needs to be removed and the perpertrator dealt with appropriately.

The purpose of the DFW board is for the support of people dealing with debt and it's a friendly and supportive place most of the time. I am proud to be the BG on this board and I love to read the support and unconditional help offered to the people in trouble however dimly the lighbulb is flickering.
