To be honest Z this place isn't what it was when I joined last year. There is too much crap and not enough DFW helping people. At times I find it really b*tchy here, a couple of people have made me feel like crap lately, of course I rise above it and I doubt they even know that I've noticed the comments, being ignored... childish stuff.

Yes, I would agree with that. The thing I like about MSE, and DFW in particular, is that people are friendly. It's one of the reasons why I very rarely venture out of here - very occasionally to the OS board.

I cut my teeth on Usenet news - all those years ago - so I can be cutting and insulting when I'm putting down idiots. But I don't see why I should be.

Besides - I'd lose my reputation for being nice... ;)

Yes, I miss some people. No prizes for guessing though... Not only when they leave, but when they feel they have to be quiet or else invite criticism.

    Well you did ask.:rotfl:

I got a straight answer to a straight question - which is how it should be. Titting around having to *tease* answers out of people is a bit  at times.

    I just couldnt agree more.

Ive had a number of PMs & MSN chats with DFWs who feel, as I do this whole section of MSE is dumbed down for want of a better phrase.

What gets me is that what should be an arena for helping people sorting out huge stressful debt problems, newbies come here ( Ive seen it day in day out- happened earlier today, yet again) and thier posts about something very serious and they are exceptionally distressed is falling to the bottom of the page or even onto page 2 adn 3, while theres just clogging of the top of the page talking about what people are having for thier tea and polls on what to call someones pet rat. I know toto isnt the only person to have been b*tched at, I feel I have too. I think its a shame really as I know others feel the same and thier resources have been diverted away from those in need as they too lose patience with this place as I have.

its gone from a arena of intensive knowledge, skill and support to nothing more than a youth club IMHO.
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.

It used to be friendlier though didn't it? Now I find it a bit cliquey, there's a lot of stuff sometimes which makes me wonder how newbies see this place. If I'd have joined recently I don't think I would have stayed long. I certainly wouldn't have had the help I needed to sort my life out.

I know you miss people too and I do know just what you mean about people being quiet. Sometimes I’ve felt like that, but I know exactly what you mean. It’s all sad.

I guess I wish that people were less interested in their own little worlds and a bit more interested in the real spirit of this board. I love the diary threads, they really do help people, it’s great for all of us (especially newbies) to get to share someone’s ups and downs, just daily life we all relate to. Not everyone is brave enough to share their lives like that so to be able to relate to someone else is priceless. But sometimes this board is full of nonsense and the threads from newbies get pushed out. I wonder if some people don’t get the help they need and deserve because of it. Don’t get me wrong I like to join in with the party threads etc, we all need a bit of fun, but it does need to be kept in one thread.

I suppose my biggest issue is with the nastiness, some folk do seem to come here just to upset people. And, yes this is a public forum and it isn’t real life. Now I am debt free I can take it all with a pinch of salt and laugh it off. Could I have done that when I was at rock bottom and struggling to get through the day? I doubt it.

And you are a nice guy Z, we all love you.

I thought things had been a bit better recently, I've been actively checking every day for unanswered posts that have dropped off the front page, and have hardly seen any in the last few weeks.

The nastiness can be horrible though, although DFW is better than a lot of the forums on here and elsewhere on the net.

That's what I was trying to say in a nutshell, only you put it so people had a clue what you meant.

It's not just about posts getting no answers though snaggles, it's about people getting the level of support they need. So many of the people who were such a fountain of knowledge when I came here have gone. And they haven't been replaced. I saw a post from a newbie the other day who was answered by someone trying to sell a DMP (spam) that was the only reply they had. I found it on page 3. I actually ended up helping this person by PM because it was easier that way.

Can I just say that I feel bad that newbies are being pushed off the front page and may not be getting the help they need... and if anyone feels that me posting in my diary frequently is contributing to this then please let me know as I would really hate to be the cause of such hard feelings... :(

Also wherever Oakdale minx, moozie and minnie are I hope they're well and know that they're welcome back at any time even if it's just to say hello and let us know how they're getting on.

I'm inclined to agree with Lynz and Toto.

The people who were here when I first ventured from the site to the forums were great, I was so way in over my head and they were great.
So many of them are gone now.

In fact I spend more time on the other boards now and only really keep up with the Olympic Diary and daily spends.

It's got too clicky and as Toto has said, at the detriment of people really needing help

I'm not sure what the answer to that is - there are such a lot of newbies on the forum, and quite often I reply to a thread and then the newbie never comes back and posts again...so you wonder if your advice helped, or if it was even read.

The spam HAS been bad recently, and I've seen numerous posts offering dmps, and saying 'contact me by pm if you want to know more', which just shouldn't be happening. All we can do though is keep reporting it and hoping it gets removed before it can do any damage.
