I don't find cooking a chore but it is nice when you don't have to it yourself occasionally.
You can get free fish and chips after 1.30 when you buy a hot drink at BHS from 15th April - 18th May. Here is the voucher:

Morning toughies, have been mega busy for a few days again, wow its been quiet in here usually there are loads of pages to catch up.
I finally attended physio yesterday and now know exactly what is wrong with my back which is good - means I am not imagining it.
A friend of mine was ready to throw her SC out as she said everything tasted awful from it - but her kitchen is out of action so I persuaded her to have one last go, and sent her instructions for a sausage casserole - it worked and she is now converted,
We are supposed to be off for a day trip today but the weather is really dull, so a day at the zoo is less than appealing
Byatt lost her doggie this week, she and her daughter are both incredibly upset but were extraordinarily brave.
Pops - am not sure if I have mentioned before but all the councils in this area have a dial a ride bus service for disabled people, its a small mini bus and its very popular here, its worth looking into whether your council has a similar service. I know our council doesnt advertise it and many people are surprised it exists when they first hear0 -
Hi all, been busy with work recently, so just reading. All the bus stuff makes me really angry. The town I used to live in had a bus service of sorts, but I used to wait up to two hours between the end of my shifts at work and a bus, also had to arrive an hour early, was often out of the house for 12-13 hours for an eight hour shift. We moved to where we are now for the simple fact it has a train station, the idea of TWO trains an hour was enough of a pull! Still no service after 11, but it functions. The buses here take 2 hours to do a journey that is 20 minutes by car or train, not worth it, I've always felt sorry for the people who have no option.
Also on the housework evils, we had an email from the landlord letting us know he's not happy about the state of the flat, apparently the carpets are looking dirty (the dust will protect the carpets - right?) and apparently the bathroom mould is too much - if he would replace the 15+ years old extractor fan, we might have less mould! I am using both vinegar and dettol mould and mildew cleaner (alternating, not mixing, not a total eejit), not sure what else he wants. Things have slipped though, I spent Tuesday afternoon cleaning and felt so much better about everything after it was done. Today is living room and kitchen and maybe even a hoover of the stairs! What a thrilling day I have before work!
Sorry for the babble, not really awake still - banging headache this morning.0 -

Byatt - huge hugs from the Stiltwalkers - DD is sending one of her special back patting ones.
Jellybox - the LL has no right to comment on the cleanliness during the tenancy, you just have to return the property as you found it (less fair wear an tear) at the end. Far easier to tell you that here though than to do anything in practice. Inspections are just to check the structure of the house although TBH mould might come under this due to the damage it can do - have you reported the carp extractor fan in writing to him? In the last house we rented I used to get so cross at the snotty LA when he can to do inspections - he always used to comment that he could usually tell that tenants had hoovered just before he arrived by the lines in the carpet but we were 'lucky' as we had the wrong sort of carpet so could get away with it!!!! Cheeky beggar as the place was always spotless and the carpet had just been done as I did it every day as we still had our long haired collie at the time!
Got the assessment for DS's chair this afternoon - need a little chair he can use that has some postural support and is solid enough not to tip - won't hold my breath for having it delivered though as it took 4 months for DD's walker and we are still waiting for the commode chair that was ordered in December!!! Got a loaner chair although it's not ideal but at least it is something to keep us going.
Ok must go and do something useful - Love and hugs to all X0 -
So sorry to hear about your dog Byatt
stiltwalker - I know LL can't complain about the cleanliness, I think he's worried we're not looking after the important stuff though, which we are. It was a steep learning curve as I've never lived anywhere susceptible to mould before, but we take every precaution we can. He knows the extractor fan is pants because he lived here for the 5 years before letting it, but he has this frustrating attitude that because it was good enough for him, for those five years, it must be good enough for us. I spent about 2 hours properly scrubbing the grouting and tiles with all manner of cleaners. It'll make no difference, within a week it will be back. When we looked around the smell in the bathroom struck me, but because I wasn't aware of how mould smelled, I didn't realise what it was - how naive!0 -
Ahh - Jellybox - a LL that used to live in the property! You're right about the smell though, once you've lived somewhere with mould once you'll always pick up on it again! For grout I find the best thing is to mix a thick paste of bicarb and bleach a paint it on with an old toothbrush - go downstairs and make cup of tea, put feet up and read MSE for a while before coming back and scrubbing it off.0
