Evening all, just checking in before hitting the hay for the night.
Did some rough figure entering into the benefit calculator today and think we might be entitled to tax credit. Thank you to those who advised me to do this. Will find time this week to dig out all of the payslips so I can work out exactly what we have earnt to see how accurate I am.
Really need to sort the house out. Yet again it's looking like a small (baby sized) bomb has gone off.
I'm getting fed up with the constant mess. I feel like I spend 2-3 hours a day doing housework and it still looks messyhow do other people always have such lovely tidy homes?

My home is very very tidy and clean peanut, but that is because I don't have a young baby (2 teenagers) and I spend at least 5 hours a day tidying, cleaning and gardening, but only because I enjoy cleaning and it keeps me fit.
Decluttering helps, and having a place for everything.
Enjoy your baby peanut, plenty of time to tidy and clean once he's grown up a bit.0 -

Oh don't worry about it, come over to my house, you'll feel great about yours in 10 seconds flat! Is always looks as if I have been burgled.
I spend forever cleaning ( which I loathe ) and tidying, but it makes no difference. I think there is a mess gnome infesting some houses ...... I think I may have 2 of them.0 -
Morning everyone, peanut don't worry about the mess, its not mess its a lived in and much loved home. Every miss placed item, mark on the paintwork is a memory. Enjoy your little one, mine is now 17!!!!!!! Oh time flies.
Migraine seems to be going at long last, just feel totally drained and tired. I am back to work tomorrow for late shifts for the rest of the week. I just hope its steady.
Off for a cuppa and then get sorted out.BSC member 137

And Chaos Pixies (speciality, stealing writing implements), do you have those as well? And the Dust Bunny Manufacturers and Herders Association, the bane of those of us with hard floors.
In my defense, although my home looks like it has been subjected to what the newspapers are now calling "an untidy search" - whatever happened to ransacking, I want to know? - I can find stuff. Can't always reach it without acrobatics, but I can find it.:rotfl:Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

I have them too
How does it happen? The house can be clean and tidy one minute and almost literally the next minute it is a mess.
I am back to work today after a few days offI don't wanna go, though I do have a site visit this afternoon which is a) quite interesting and b) an excuse for me to leave early
I am glad of it as I slept really badly - there is only me and DD here and I was sensitive to every noise but it isn't like i'm not used to being here on my own or just me and children, so don't know what that was about. Think I need to pin my hair back really tightly for an instant facelift :rotfl:
Have a good day allI wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
It happens to people with proper-sized houses, too?!
I thought the 0-Chaos in 60 seconds was a function of living in a very small space, but if you have it also it must be a wider problem. Who knew?
I find a faceplant into a basin of cold water helpful on those days of bleariness.
Have a lovely day inc your site visit.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Funny yesterday I did a lot of dust busting - full-time job here, seriously. As well as being a condensation magnet, our house is just perfect for dust collecting. Hard flooring downstairs, lots of open shelving in kitchen and living room (and bedrooms), all downstairs' furniture has an underneath (ie. not flat on floor), ancient fitted (I used that term loosely) kitchen with gaps between units and white goods. Oh and we have funny wood panelling on living room walls (done very cheaply by last owners and never had dosh/the will to sort out) with inch gaps between each panel and the gaps have collecting 'wells' each end (sorry can't explain better). Add cats' fur mixing into the dust swirls and I think we'd be better off living in a desert dust-wise.
Phew sorry that was long and boring.... so much to say about dust. So many hours spent... you get the picture!0 -
Everything has its place. I think that's the issue, we have little storage. My attempt of tidying the dump / spare room is to shut the door! Lol.
Going to make progress today though and put some hooks up under the stairs to put our ski gear up as its all currently just piled up underneath.
Thank you for your kind words.0
