Annoying but a result I guess...no more than I would expect. I've been offered discount to take Sky again and was tempted but with many repeats and some programmes I would not watch I have avoided signing up besides I worry that my income could change suddenly and then where would I be?
As I said yesterday I am debating whether to drop the TV license and survive on catch up whilst it still exists.
I am with Plusnet and only have the telephone line rental(I make few calls)and I have the broadband 24/7 unlimited. That works out around £5 per week.
I have been tempted to go back to 7pm-8am weeknights/any time weekends for my calls which would save me another £4 per month. Bringing it down to £4 per week. But I don't have the extras like a tv box etc...
ETA What Elona said so well had crossed my mind...that alone should've proved how genuinely ill you were and if I'd been your manager I would not have waited for you to ask for a Dr's appointment I would have insisted that you go..."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson

Following the "girl called jack" link earlier, someone else alerted me to this

which makes interesting reading. The comments are also interesting.I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Have a lovely break vjsmum.
Peanut - the mural is fab!
fuddle - nice to have you back on here. sorry you are so poorly and your manager has been so ridiculous. Decent employers allow their staff reasonable time off for medical appointments. What does your contract say?
I have had some jobs with difficult managers but never refused time off for a genuine doctor's appointment. Having said that I was once refused time off for a funeral of a close and dear relative as a colleague had a day booked off already. The office would have mananged fine without me as it was a quiet time of year. I was so upset but my lovely colleague sacrificed her plans so I could have the day off. I stopped working unpaid overtime there after that.
Mixed day here - funny how you can feel happy and sad at the same time. Had a letter from my dad yesterday and I have been reeling from it ever since. He is speaking to me like he did as a child when his word was right no matter what and he would never back down, compromise, explain or discuss anything. I have explained calmly and reasonably to them that I feel very hurt and why and have had nothing but defensiveness back. DH can't believe I am so calm with them. The longer all this goes on, the worse I feel. It seems like my feelings aren't important to them, only being right and having everything their own way. I am considering severing contact with them permanantely but it is such a big step and I feel too scared at this point to do it. The thing that stung the most was my dad saying how awful it was for our children and its not their fault. He is right there, it also not my fault. I think it will be better for our children to miss out seeing grandparents than have relationships with people who think using emotional blackmail all the time is acceptable.
Anyway I have finally been able to have a good cry today and put it to one side to deal with in manageable chunks. We have brighter, windy weather and towels out on the line. Nearly caught up with the washing pile! Been using up odds and ends to avoid wasting food and spending money, getting better at it as time goes on. Made kids' favourite banana pancakes for brunch to use up some of the elderly bananas. Another NSD, ticked off some of the housework and repaired two coats so not a bad day. Will bake some bread and a banana loaf next and then tea will be a freezer job plus last of the fresh veg. Going to have a glass of wine tonight and look forward to having DH home for the weekend. Haven't spent any proper time with kids today but will make it up at the weekend.

Hi all.
Panicking here as the big R payment yet to hit account chaed and might be another month! and DH needs reference but no info as to whom to send it to .... Plus just been landed with notice of jury service!
Thanks for all wishes as usual family did manage to destroy plans for day, but dodgy aunt now better, well medicated and back on her feet. Evening was lovely had scrummy food on deal from lovely restaurant .... Last treat for some time we think!
Doglet still poorly and next step is more tests and X-rays ..... I hope the insurance coves it!
Fuddle sadly UK law does NOT require time paid for medical appointments and CAN be forced to be taken out of work hours .... generally it don't bode well for employer employee relations. Links for you:

Friday evening hurrah.
Been to get load of shopping as DSS and his girlfriend come up tomorrow until Tuesday. having a browse on here then going to make soup and 2 pasta sauces so that will save some time at the weekend.
Hope the weather is good - must check the forecast. We're going to the zoo on Sunday and have our panda slot booked. However, they may be getting on with the mating business ha ha in which case they will be away out of sight.
Hope the antibiotics kick in soon Fuddle. My sister used to get tonsilitis a lot when she was younger. We';re expected to make appointments out of work time (education) and I think that's the way it goes when you work with people. It says that in our contract too I think. I'm glad that you have an out of hours service. I think more and more of them will have to start up to give people somewhere to go for appointments. Keep warm and lots of hot drinks. Rest as much as you can too to give your body a chance to recover.
We had our doggie at the vet yesterday to have poss arthritis checked. The vet doesn't think there is anything major going on so that's good. She has some anti-inflamatories (sp?) to try for a week. We're going to put her on glucosamine and chondriton (sp?!) which we had our old dog on. That really helped her so I hope it eases this enough to not need the pain killers.
Ok, heading into the kitchen with i-pod and get some cooking done.
Hope for good weekends for all. Candle lit and sending good thoughts.

What a horrible man was on the bus I came home on...he boarded with a rotwieler(sp?)dog and had a go at a woman getting on with a pram...
And he did the same getting off(they got off at the same stop)he really had some anger management issues. He was a big loud mouth and what sometimes is called a bruiser type. I have never seen this breed of dog as it was today but it had a long tail...usually they only have a stump."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson

Tail docking (and ear cropping) is frowned upon if not illegal (depends on where you live).
The Great Danes in my area all have floppy ears and tails. Growing up I remember pointy ears and short tails.0 -
Evening all
Have a lovely time VJsmum
Belated birthday wishes Misslr
SQ - ((hugs)) that is exactly how I feel with my parentals - like my feelings are not valued or even considered. Most days I feel as though I am merely a vessel that allows them access to the important ones - my kids
Fuddle - as far as I know its standard working practice that employees take medical appointments outside of work time, I have never worked anywhere that allowed time off for appointments. My OH has to take them out of work time too, the only exception is for "big" appointments for my boys - he is allowed unpaid leave for them if he proves they are not just normal stuff - so he was able to get the time for the official diagnosis appointment but not time for a CBT appointment.
Most doctors recognise this as being the case and are providing some later evening appointments to accomodate people who work - hopefully many more GPs will do this and help people like you who are working:)
That said I hope you are feeling better soon, DS9 happily recommends hot lemonade, with a spoon of honey and a spoon of lemon mixed in - not that he drinks it mind but he knows it what you are supposed to have when you have a sore throat
We have been out for the past two days, yesterday was our group visit to the sensory centre, its so amazing there and we all love it. Today we wandered to Martin Mere which was lovely if not just a little cold, I still havent warmed up. But the kids finally got to ride the tour boat which they loved, DS9 managed to scare the living daylights out of the other riders though with his doom and gloom prophesy at every turn0 -
Evening all. Well we got here and missing LO something rotten!0

I had Rotts no longer possible to dock tails unless they break them, which they do with alarming regularity if you get the real soppy ones, irrespective of owner these dogs are usually daft as brushes and fantastic natured. Shame they don't sit on the plonker a the other end of the lead!
I also had Dobes and the only one who gave me a seconds pause for thought was the old blind girl who was a rescued trained attack dog .... SHe was going batty at 17 and we had a row about boundaries just before it all went terminal even so would never have hesitated about her nature with any person except if they raised a hand to me ...
Wish you could report dumb bum owners some dogs would be better off without them. So many dogs begin abandoned these days those with perceived questionable social status will suffer.Start info Dec11
