I have had washing on the rotary and also on the airier located on the patio, just brought it in to "cook" to take the chill off. Am refusing to do any more washing until th weekend now!
We have a cooker that cleans itself, it has an incinerate setting, takes about 2 hrs and costs £0.60 in electricity .... I count that as a bargain. Disadvantage it sets the blinking smoke alarm off every time so have to remember to remove it and tell neighbours so they don't panic!
Thanks for the birthday wishes!Start info Dec11

Monnagran, the oven cleaner from Lakeland is really good, you just brush it on. But my secret for the racks is to put them through the dishwasher. They come out looking just as bad as when they went in, LOL, BUT you can then wash them in the sink and just a little bit of rubbing with a pan scourer gets all the baked on crud off. It's quite gratifying.
I used to put the racks in a black plastic sack with a little bit of ammonia and leave the bag in the sun for a day. That takes anything off, it's quite magical, you literally just rinse it clean. But you have to hold your breath when you open the bag, the ammonia fumes are not good for you at all. And it can take the chrome off the oven shelves if they are not really top qualityIt doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0 -
Evening all, well I've had a really good day
Enjoyed the sun at my aunties (who has a lovely huge garden) and got to wear shorts and flip flops for the first time of the yearI'm a proper south west person in that I will struggle to go back to trousers now. Lol. If we get cold, we just wear thicker coats. Once the legs are out thats it for summer! Hehe
Also got some good news. Well a nice present. It's my birthday this weekend and my family are already funding a weekend away for me and the OH (and are providing babysitting service!), but my auntie has treated me to some money so I can get some new clothes while we're there
Very excited!0 -
Done sod all today. Probably should have used my time slightly more wisely, but my week and a half of annual leave ends tomorrow, so making the most of the time! Off to donate my blood soon, so that sort of makes up for doing nothing - doesn't it?
Absolutely - I regularly receive blood and can't thank you, and all those who donate, enough. When I receive blood I can feel my body changing and becoming stronger. My heart rate goes down and my blood pressure rises and there is a tinge of rosy to my cheeks. So again - thank you xI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -
Morning all and who has pinched the sun? Give it back please! Its all grey and miserable looking and its cold!
I got a load of towels and a thick hoodie dry on my line yesterday so i am pleased with that. I have one more load to do but it can stay on the clothes horse indoors.
Hmm....just looked out the window and we have sleet! Can i hibernate please?0 -
I love giving blood, I have overcome a massive needle phobia to do it, but all I have to do is ignore my arm for 10 minutes. I have always figured it's worth it and you've proved that Molly41, so thanks back
Woken up today feeling awful, headachey and sick (almost certainly not related to blood loss), hoping it will pass so I can be well for my first day back at work! Not looked out of the window yet, but it's only 13 degrees in the flat, so I would imagine it's pretty rubbish outside here too. Yay!0 -
Just read this in another forum, don't know yet if its true but it's a nice story. I will see if I can check it out.
QUOTE
Local paper had a story about two German tourists who visited Scotland after seeing Brave. Went up to the Central Highlands and decided to go across the hill road from Glenlyon to Loch Tay. Their van has now been stuck up there for over two weeks and they are earning their keep in a guesthouse in Glenlyon by doing odd jobs until they can recover it. They must be hoping for the thaw next week to come and get up into the hills."0 -
Happy Birthday misslr wishing you a lovely day.
Happy Birthday for this weekend to Peanut hope you have a super time with OH.
Bexim DH gives blood - only because he wanted to know his blood group so I told him to go & donate a pint & he'd find out - that was nearly 40 years ago & he's still donating bless him AND he found out he's a RH Neg group so in demand. Unfortunately I can no longer donate 'cos of the BC.
Away this weekend for a family Diamond Wedding Anniversary. Arrangements all made & I looked at the invite yesterday  invite is for Sunday - not Saturday (senior moment) so rapid telephoning to re-arrange everything! All sorted now though.
Its B cold here - so don't think I'm going to put my nose outside unless I really have to! I'm like you pops I snuggle up in bed & everything is warm except my nose - haha
Monnagran You are not alone - I hate cleaning my oven too - I do put everything I can in the DW but I grit my teeth & knuckle down less often than I should - & the extractor fan thingy is even worse!
Wishing all you toughies a good weekend in advanceSmall victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -
Where is mrs L??0

Happy birthday missrlr. Hope you have a lovely day.
Lovely birthday surprise peanut - hope you have a lovely weekend away.
Great to hear all those giving blood. I used to give blood years ago but I have poor circulation and a couple of times was the last one there and only half a pint donated as my blood just wanted to stay put. Sometimes would be turned away with a low iron count. So not sure if I was more trouble than not. Then had a period of time with pregnancies, operations, injecting Clexane etc and couldn't give blood. DH started giving blood last month and I think I will give it one more shot if they will have me!
Well today's not starting off to plan. Slept really badly and then slept in as DH working from home today and no 6.30am alarm clock. Feel all headachy but hopefully that will pass. We have some sleety stuff so washing can't go out. Hmmmm. Planned to walk into town, DS6 needs new shoes so the dreaded Clarks bill. Think will take the car instead, just means another opportunity to exercise my two will be lost. Part of the shops are undercover so will visit the poundshops, charity shops etc to keep them occupied and walking. Maybe a cake in the bakers too. Can't be indoors two days in a row and DH needs some peace and quiet to work. I think boys and I will feel better once we are out, there is a slighty grumpy mood in the house.
Have a good day everyone.
