Mum rang me from hospital earlier, alls well and she feels pretty good if a little uncomfortable. Brother is taking her back to his house as they have a spare room and she really didnt fancy camping in our shed
but I offered. He said 'just ring me if you want to come down and see her' no I will bl**dy well wait till she goes back to the flat at weekend if she lasts that long without hitting SIL over the head with a handy frying pan.
Dgs recovering well from his bug, todays nappy was in need of a toxic warning stamp on it but containment was acheived and the other end is taking in and not giving back. He loves his new house and when they nipped back to the old one for something he refused to go in and sat on the doorstep till they had done :rotfl: Im so happy they are now in a damp free house which is absolutely lovely, Im sure they will all feel better soon and stop being so tired all the time.
I celebrated last night because I made proper fried rice :j:j now I know its best to use day old rice which is a little drier than fresh cooked its a doddle. The technique has evaded me for years and spoiled many a meal. Would have acheived it last week but knocked the dish of rice on the floor and spent half an hour sweeping broken glass up.Clearing the junk to travel light
Saving every single penny.
I will get my caravan0 -
Ginny : It's great when you achieve a recipe isn't it? OH makes a gorgeous fried rice, mine is not so good! Lol.
Another gorgeous day today, sun is proper shining! Off to visit my favourite auntie with LO and then a visit from the MIL tonight
So nearly finished LO's mural, hoping to complete it today0 -
Ginny - so glad your Mum is OK & it all went wellSmall victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0

Early this morning on the Today programme the weather forecaster announced there's a major change in the weather coming for the South East
OOOOH I thought, Spring at last
Nope. Cloud coming over during the morning, so say goodbye to the sun, snow flurries by lunchtime but most of all a really strong Easterly wind so it's going to feel bitterly cold (you mean it's been balmy up till now???)
He KNEW he was winding us all up - it would serve him right if his heating packed upIt doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0 -

Ginny - glad your mum's ok and your DGS is recovering - new house sounds perfect.
Not much exciting planned today and it looks fairly gloomy outside. Never mind plenty to get on with, boys' beds need stripping which is a major task as both have zillions of soft toys on them (enough to fill 6 pillowcases!!!) Boys will get the job of filling pillowcases, I will strip then a reverse process later with clean bedding. Forgot to do an egg hunt over the weekend so will hide the 2 bags worth of choc mini bunny rabbits over the house. Problem is I can never remember where I put them all... Need to get a basketful of basic shopping bits, so will go with kids rather than go out in the eve I think (might regret that idea!) Promised to play some board games and bake something. That's the day pretty much filled with lots of little chores on my list too.
I need to sit down and look at our budgets again. I might try joining some of the challenges or just do my own to make it more positive - I love winning so yes that might help. Going to try and cut down on a few more luxuries eg. I used to drink mostly tea, now its mostly coffee (just a cheapish non-brand) and tea is much cheaper so will try and wean myself off the coffee a bit.
As usual when I get on here, washing machine has finished so off I go.
Hope everyone's ok today. Sending warm, positive thoughts your way.0 -
morning toughies, first load of washing is on the line. Quilt is in the washer for the 2nd and last load of the day. I think the bearings are going on the machine as its rather grumbley as it spins. Another major expense if that does go. It was the cheapest model when I got it, and its from the hotpoint factory graded shop. They are around £100 but still its something I could do without happening.
DD electric socket has packed up, so OH will have to take a look. I put a surge protection lead on to test it and it went off, so we have left it.
Yellow ball it trying to peep out from behind some rather grey clouds, please can they not stop here while my washing is drying.
We have a carboot sale on today, so might pop and have a look.
have a good day everyone xBSC member 137

It's been trying to snow here all morning, it doesn't feel as cold though which is some consolation.
DDs are both still in bed, as is the teenage way. I shall make them some lunch in a bit and perhaps the smell of bacon sarnies might bring them down. DH had a huge muscle spasm attack to the point where it made him throw up with pain, managed to get him into bed and have given him his big dose of muscle relaxants, he's drifted off to sleep now so that should help. Luckily it happened just as we got in the car, we hadn't left the driveway or god knows how I'd have got him home (mental note to self, even if we're just popping to the tip with a load of rubbish take a phone and purse!)
My food budgets need bringing back in line, it's hard when the kitchens all upside down but once the new larder is built I can have a good stock take and rejig of what we're eating."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -
Pooky, I need to do a stock take really and have a go at surviving off what is in our cupboards for a week or so
However we are away this week so don't need to worry about food for a few days0 -
Well we've got lovely sunshine, quite warm through the window, so I got all excited re gardens and went out to see what I could do.. Came back in at high speed without fingers - checked the thermometer, and it was showing minus 7.
So forget the gardening unless anybody knows how to plant in permafrost.
Back to sitting in the recliner in the sun, and watching Rosemary & Thyme on youtube lol0
