stiltwalker - what a fantastic result, so pleased for you and the stiltlets (and your poor back!) :j

We've been in our home for over 15 years and have done some things in that time (most years ago when I was working more), but there's more to do now as the place is nearly 80 years old. I find it easier to think about one little job at a time - if I think about everything it scares me, especially when I cost it all!

I've been at work most of the day, but came home to find DH had washed up, which was smashing, lovely man!

Bexim, this month were writing down every penny were spending. Could you ask him to do this?

In April we're doing that. Have to put it off til then because March is a weird month due to my birthday, also I am giving him the next few weeks to adjust to it, and get my systems for recording it all up together. How are you doing it? I'm not exactly naturally organised and currently trying to make it as easy as possible to write it all down!

Trying to make sure every penny goes on the card so I have a record. But also have an accounts app on my phone that I log everything.

I ask OH every evening what he's spent in cash that day and I work out the same then log onto mobile banking and log it all on the app :) At the end of the month ill have a tally of everything (it lets you categorise too :) )

peanut, have you have your OH CSA payments reassessed after you had little one. It usually lowers as you have another mouth to feed as such. I appreciate he has children already, but it might be something to consider.

stiltwalker: What a result! well done you, all your hard work has paid dividends. You will really appreciate that buggy when it arrives. Bet you can't wait.

jem: What a relief, and how lovely to have such a super Mum.

savingqueen: Oh, the joys of home-ownership. I so understand you. Time was when I had a simply enormous house falling down round my ears, 2 expensive teen-age boys, tiny wage and was a single mum. There's not much I don't know about turning orange boxes into bedside tables, sticking lino on the wall where the tiles have fallen off, 'sides-to-middling sheets' etc.
I used to survive by having lovely little corners where I could sit and pretend that the whole house was as exquisite as I'd managed to make the 4sq feet round a beautiful chair. The boys were never aware of the state of the place and remember their childhood as being 'magical' (their words).
I finally sold the heap at a knockdown price to a couple who were obviously very well heeled as I saw just recently that the house had been sold by them for £1.700,000.:mad::mad:
I moved into the tiniest cottage, Grade2 listed. And that was another ball game completely.
Concentrate on your fluffy towels petal.

Evening all, I've decided to run away from the painting. Instead i'm chilling out with a glass of white wine surrounded by three cats while the boys play on the pc. my OH is at a 10k run, he wanted me to go but no way was I going stand outside in the cold with two lads till midnight. I feel guilty for not going but it is the first race I've missed and eldest couldn't push me about in the mud.

Jem sorry to hear your news x

Hi Nutty, no we are due to be reassessed. OH has had a major pay cut (about 4.5k a year), LO has been born and I've stopped working (were CSA1 so my wage is used in calculation too) since we were last done.

Just taken a while to gather all the payslips, letters from pension, proof of rent blah blah blah! Lol.

House is tidy and kitchen scrubbed so don't have to do any housework tomorrow :)

Stiltwalker - incredible news, you have done tremendously, hope you are having a well deserved rest tonight :)

Jem ((hugs)) am glad your mum could help.

Am so tired having been busy with party for most of the day so I have forgotten who had the post office missed letter slip - it may be that the postage was underpaid on something, a smaller parcel or even a product test.

Todays party went really well, the kids all enjoyed themselves, only slight issue was a mum who runs a cake business, who was put out I hadnt asked her to do the cakes - she didnt say as much but asked where they were from etc and sniffed when I explained. She then made my friend remove the nail paint from her daughters nails as she didnt want them done
I had a sheet which every parent was asked to sign in their child and indicate if they could have nails or tattoo, if they werent staying I asked for a contact number - when I checked she hadnt signed her child in.
