Right, OH back from work (6 day weeks, poor guy) and just chucked pizza in the oven for tea (mr t e. value for 79p, bargain!)
Mum helped me make bread and butter pudding this avo (I've never made it before and had no idea how easy it is!) which is OHs favourite and rather looking forward to it
Then a quick tidy of the house, do dishes, put washing on overnight (cheaper electric) and bath time for LO.
Plan to be sat down for Casualty!0 -
shock horror! this might be on the news tonight....
drum roll.....
DH has just offered to unload and re-load the dishwasher and its not mum's day til tomorrow or my birthday :rotfl:
So I can sit on her a bit longer while Mr Stripey Cat washes my hands whilst I type (sounds cute but he has catfood breath!)
nutty - don't stress about the card yet, it could be one of several harmless or even postive things. If it isn't, you can deal with it Monday and we will be with you all the way. Most things can be sorted one way or another.
Had a good but crazy time at friend's daughter's party. Zillions of children there, thought I wouldn't know anybody but met a handful of mums/dads from different things so was nice chatting (well shouting... it was a a zumba party) and joined in with some of the dancing. Forgot how much I love to dance. Boys' dance teacher (who also ran the party) does a Zumba class on Tues eve and I am tempted to go along. I always think of the money aspect but heck I need to do something for me and might shed a few pounds along the way. All part of the new me! :j

I went the 'brave but possibly stupid route' of combining all finances so I can see where every penny goes.
Our biggest issue is his enormous outgoings. I'm on SMP so only bring in £585 a month. He brings home £1000 a month but then has to pay out £550 to CSA, a small loan and his pension. This drops us to a household income of £1050 and our rent is £650!
No wonder were skint!
We've considered doing this, but until I know he can think about his spending, I won't risk my money being frittered. I don't think we need to be as short as we are, I guess that's what irks! I don't know, maybe once I've got him accounting for everything with me, he'll see where the money is going and not feel so threatened by it.
SQ - Zumba - do it! The financial outlay is a pain, but it's such a benefit to your wellbeing (mental and physical) that it's definitely good value for money. I so miss it, but there aren't any classes near me that fit with my shifts.0 -
Thanks for sharing mcculloch. You did well to get £6k worth of repairs done. The list of repairs waiting is awful, the worst things are:
big crack in one french door, runners are going and we can only open one of two doors (very expensive job as windows span one entire big "wall")
up stairs sink has an enormous crack in it (whole suite needs replacing really)
shower broken for over a year
no ventilation/window in bathroom = awful condensation
downstairs loo can't cope with much loo paper
tiles need replacing on outside wall
plus: all windows need replacing and all flooring/carpet (except boys room), most rooms need decorating (some desparately), shed and fence on last legs and kitchen units are falling apart (two drawers are nailed shut as have fallen apart and repaired too often) bathroom and kitchen tiles need replacing and lots of little things, too many to mention. Not to mention the damn condensation. Our duvet covers (not boys) have been sewn up so many times and sheets are patched! Goodness I could type on forever, it's a joke. I have to laugh, nothing else to be done:rotfl:
On the plus side since we have been here (nearly 10 years) we have replaced the front door, replaced window locks, had a drive laid, had lots of electrical work done (previous owner bodged everything, he electrocuted himself twice), had central heating installed and a new boiler, repaired the flat roof several times (whole house is a blooming flat roof) and decorated (though most needs redecorating) and we have no debt and nice fluffy towels.
off to eat simple pasta dinner now with a glass of wine. Hope you have a nice takeaway Stiltwalker - well deserved. Wonder how kidcat's party went?
edit: jem so glad you mum could help out and lovely she treated you on top. enjoy your cream cake (if it's still there?!)

JEM honey, I'm so glad your lovely mum helped you out, it is a dark place when you feel so low and I so hope that you quickly get some light back into your life. Life sounds difficult for you and the kids at the moment and you are hurting like mad, I wish I had answers but I've been through it and I know that there is a better life when all the problems are sorted, and they will be. I wouldn't have believed anyone saying that when I was going through marriage problems with my first husband, but, I know there is sunshine after the storm, and there will be for you lovie, it will take a little while, and until it does we are all sending you hugs and love and strength, and you can always say it to us, whatever it is, be strong little one, Love Lyn xxx.0

stiltwalker wrote: »Well we have had an amazing day - together with some donations already received from family and people who couldn't come we have managed to raise the grand total of £1,115 !!!! So together with a fantastic grant from a local charity we now have the funds to order the buggy on Monday.
I am absolutely jiggered now though - roll on wine and takeaway o'clock - we have most definately earned it today.
Love and hugs to all. X
Really well done xxxI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -
Stiltwalker - how fantastic! So pleased you'll be able to get the buggy you need. Hope you managed to enjoy your day too.
SQ - that's a big expensive list of things that need doing, it's amazing what you can live with when you have to. Enjoy your glass of wine x
Our kitchen would have waited a few years but It simply doesn't work for me or DH, the boiler needed to be replaced before it died (32 years old) and I'm gagging for enough worktop space to put a chopping board on (there really isn't enough room).
I've spent the day sugar soaping the walls and scraping old paste off....nice!"Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0
