Good luck today Stiltwalker, hope you sell out and raise oodles of money.

The ballet was fab last night, the male lead was the star of the show, his spins and jumps were so well timed and elegant, my girls sat transfixed, such a lovely way to spend the evening.

Today I shall be sugar soaping and sanding walls, filing holes and taking off skirting boards.....not in that order though. According to one estimate we had for the works, I've saved £450 so far by what I've done.....better in my bank account than theirs.

    Morning all

kidcat, well done on all the catering! We always make and bake our party food, with the odd shop-bought thing - don't they taste so much better? Even if bought stuff is cheaper, a lot is wasted cos it doesn't taste as good, therefore it's more cost effective to make your own!

fuddle/monnagran, I might have to try those knickers out, too, I have a similar tum issue to fuddle, which may be better suited to a different style of knicker! :rotfl:

Good luck with the coffee morning, stiltwalker, hope you make loads of money!

I'm working today (boo!), so will see you later.

    A xo

No need to worry about the Tesco knicker shorts disappearing any time soon, I used to wear them almost 10 years ago, when they were first launched! They don't work for me though, something about them is just not comfortable. That said, I suspect 15 year old me had a slightly different body shape!

Been reading the last couple of days, sounds like a few sets of hugs are required so ((hugs)) for everyone who needs/wants them. I'm never able to keep up enough to respond to everything I want to - how do you all do it?!

Here today is a relatively relaxed day, my only day off this week, at least of big job, I'm doing my paperwork for the little job still, but nothing too mega. Going to try and relax as still got 9 hours left of my 50 hour week, one of the hardest I've had in this job too, combined it with about 3-4 hours of sleep a night, no fun. Still, some sleep last night, I am actually concious enough to type!

Stiltwalker. You'll be in the thick of it now but we are all sitting here cheering you on.

fuddle: do you reckon that if we all wrote and told T*sc*s how fabulous their knicker shorts are they would use us as adverts. We could all parade down the catwalk with our saggy tums, baggy bums and itchless waists. Perhaps not.

Off now to see what the market is offering in the way of bargains.
    It's sunny here!!!!!!!

peanut - glad you had a happy outcome with your family, lovely to hear. :)

fuddle and kidcat - feels good to have a little savings doesn't it? We have a savings pot since becoming more OS but wasn't always the case. I am saving for specific house repairs, decoration etc and I know at some point we will have enough for one big project - I will feel panicky when the savings pot is empty until it gets refilled.

That is our main problem money wise - we manage (with very careful budgeting and OS/MSE approach) the mortgage, bills, food and essentials with a little over for treats but we need several thousand to do essential house repairs, not to mention the more cosmetic stuff which is sorely needed. I try not to let it bug me but I am not proud of our house at all, in fact regularly embarrassed. However I am proud of our home in terms of things like our boys' artwork up everywhere, books in every room (bar the downstairs loo), family photos, homemade biccies and cakes in the cupboard (none at the moment though!), our cosy cats etc.

peanut - I remember those 3am night feeds well. A real killer!

pooky - glad you all enjoyed the ballet. I love ballet, haven't been for about 12 years but DH is taking me for my birthday (long gone), just have to find one I like and that fits in with my friend (babysitting) etc

well done with DIY/decorating Pooky and nutty. I need to start ours, just finding the time that's tricky.

The soy sauce will stay in the cupboard but will buy a spare in case it goes rancid when I need it. Cheers everyone.

I am another with a caesarean scarred wobbly overhang. DS8 once asked to see it as he was my c-section baby. I managef to show him with my dignity intact! DS6 was a VBAC and so far he hasn't asked to see where he was delivered from

Hope you got some sleep fuddle?

    off for a bath

  • Good morning all. It has taken mean age to catch up with all of this weeks posts. Its been quite an emotional roller coaster of a week on here. I should really have read all of these pages with a pen and paper so that I could remember all of the things i wanted to comment on, but on second thoughts that would have turned this into a very long post.
The new job is going well although I wonder if I will get to grips with a couple of bits of it, still it is early days yet.

I was extremely lucky the shopping last night. I hit the meat section in Aldi last night just as they were reducing packs of chicken breasts, legs and fillets to half price :D. We then went to Tesco for a couple of bits and there were lots of packs of sliced ham and beef from the deli counter for just a few pence each (i.e 4 large slices of peppered beef for 54p) and a large bag of pork ribs for less than two pounds :D. Needless to say the freezer is now well stocked with chicken and cold meat for sandwiches. I never buy chicken breasts as it is more economical to buy a whole chicken but these will come in very handy. Its slow cooker BBQ spare ribs with HM spicy wedges for tea tonight.

I will light a new candle tonight and send positive thoughts and hugs to everyone on here who needs them. I might not be getting on here much at the moment but I do think of you all very often.
I am playing all of the right notes just not necessarily in the right order :D.

Just a quick pop in to say best of luck to Stiltwalker, hope you make loads and raise awareness.

I'm another Mr T knicker short wearer, lot more comfortable than thongs which set off my lower back pain these days!

30 plus years ago I had an emergency C-section, emergency as in nurses & doctors running along the corridors shouting instructions & pushing me on a trolley! My c scar runs from navel to pubic bone, my kids used to call me 'two bum Mum'!

Glad I'm not the only one with a two bum tum, although my scar isn't as long as Hester's :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
