Well its a very quiet day here so far. Both DD's have rang to say happy mothers day, and DD's fiance said it too. I was a bit taken aback, but he said im the best mum he's had. His own mum walked out when he was a few months old and he never seemed to get on with his stepmum. I like her, but she favour's her own, iygwim.... I like to think i treat my 2 and my borrowed 1 all the same. If he's got any problems im the first port of call, including when he forgot his money and had filled his car, super mum to the rescue with her trusty purse. He repaid me as soon as he got home!!

OH has just delivered his last mothers day parcel, all 87 of them. He said there some very happy ladies, and surprised ones too!!!

Well turkey leg is in the oven, YS from tescus for £1.50. I hope its jummy. I read on here that a lot of you lovely ladies buy them, so im giving them a try.

Have a good day everyone x

I had a loooong day yesterday too, up at the crack to catch a train dahn sarf. Except I had to go oop north for a bit as the trains were all to pot, luckily I wasn't too delayed. I get free first class travel due to OH's job so it does make it all a lot more pleasant let alone cheap! THank god for the free train travel as dad wouldn't get visited half so much. I have taken him a jar of manuka honey for his ulcerated legs to see if that will do what the medical profession can't - I have heard good reports and @ldi sell it quite reasonably priced.

VJsmum, could you get your dad to ask the nurse if he could have honey dressing's? Yes I know there very expensive for the practice to order but they do work, I'm having to have them for the ulcer on my leg and it's starting to heal up after being stubborn for quite a few week's,but then again, turn's out I'm allergic to a lot of stuff where's a rolly eye icon when you want it.

You can buy Manuka honey, spread a dollop on cotton wool, and then stick the cotton wool to the leg :)
  • Hello strangers,
I've not been posting much recently as not much has been happening. But please can I have a wee rant. Usually I order flowers for mum (200 miles away) for Mother's Day from a little florist near her, but for some reason I decided to order some from M&S this year. All the order confirmation stuff on the web-site and email says delivery today. But when I went on to the courier delivery website it said scheduled for delivery tomorrow  I've spoken to M&S who agree that I asked for delivery today, they asked for delivery today, but it does look like the company won't be delivering until tomorrow. They've advised me to wait until 7pm (the last possible time the couriers will deliver) then check if they've been delivered.
So - I can't phone mum yet and wish her happy mother's day (just on the off chance the flowers do turn up later) and if they haven't turned up by 7pm when I do phone her I'm going to look like a completely uncaring so-and-so and it will be too late to do anything about it.
Why didn't I stick with the local florists:mad:
Not sure why I'm sharing this - other than OH is out for the day and I'm feeling really !!!! about it.

  • That's appaling guys, if you pay for a mothers day bouquet surely you are entitled to expect it to arrive on Mothers Day and not the day after, I hope both do arrive at your respective Mums this evening, if not make M & S know about it, and take no prisoners. Good luck, and I hope everyone has had a nice day today wether they are mums or not, stay warm everyone, Cheers Lyn xxx.

Oh heck Abi - the last thing I want is to get anyone else worried! Have you checked who the courier is - and then looked on their website?

Nuttyp - it's the yellow and green courier company. The thing that's bothering me is when I put the tracking number in it says that the flowers have been scanned in at the collection depot and are now on their way to the collection depot (or they were yesterday evening). It says in very big letters on the courier website planned delivery date 11/03/2013 :-(

Oh well, sticking to more OS topics - I made a meringue the other day: which meant I had some egg yolks that needed using. A bit of googling later, and I've discovered that you can make a sponge cake using only the egg yolks. It's just out of the oven, but looks ok so far. I'll put some jam in the middle and we'll try it for pud later on.

hi 7 week wonder - how do you find out who the courier is - having trouble tracking

On the M&S site go to "My account" and find the relevant order and just above the delivery address there is a button "track package". Click on that and it will open a separate window (something called metatrack) On the bottom right hand side of that window there is a link "Visit tracking site" and the name of the courier.

    Good luck!
