MrsLW Happy to hear that Docky is back to his usual super gorgeous and happy self.

If I was a discworld character I would like to be The Luggage. How I loved those books when I first discovered them 20 something years ago, even if they did make me laugh out loud on the hour long train journey to work.

GreyQueen our two cats couldn't catch a cold, but a friend's cat once reappeared from the wood yard behind their house with someone's packed lunch in a plastic bag clenched between it's jaws.

I've been idle this week as I had physio on Monday and apparently my piriformis was the bit causing problems the week before. It feels like a sprained bum, but the remedial work has given me a very sore back. I've been discharged now regardless of back ache/sprained bum and all, so I think I will have to press on and do some housework tomorrow.

I made a kind of cheats pea and ham soup today. One onion, one ham stock cube, one pint of water and one small tin of pease pudding. Stuck the blender on it when it was cooked and it actually tastes very nice.

Take care all of you, my sanity depends on you lot being here :rotfl:

That sounds like an appropriate response Kidcat.

Fuddle, don't give the beggars the money. Your statement was great, I'd interview you.... if I was still in management :rotfl: I agree with others, start calling care homes yourself. I got into one first try, I think they were desperate!

Peanut, post your statement of affairs here. I'd be surprised if between us we couldn't find you the saving in there somewhere.

Possession, you can freeze every meat once in each state: raw and cooked. Though don't expect your bacon to defrost crispy!

FIL has 2 suspected melanomas removed, well, it turned out they were actual melanomas, stage 1 though. He has to go back and give them a bit more flesh yet, but should be ok. He's now on 3 monthly checks at the skin cancer specialist.

Still no sign of Nursie GQ. Though there is a tropical cyclone coming in off the coast. Could the bureau of meteorology have made a mistake? Could that be her coming in?

Sounds like she has a bit of an infatuation with him kidcat, her techno abilities, or rather inabilities, are her 'in'. Does that add up at all?

He must be feeling so fed up with it. If she's more than happy to go back to the other support group, chatter/gossip then she doesn't really totally wholeheartedly need you exclusively and therefore if she isn't prepared to keep the confidentiality requests and each others feelings into consideration then maybe, without wanting to sound callous, the group must protect its vulnerable, needy members and put them first and foremost. If she wants I be part of your group, without the drama, gossip an too much attention for the male then she'll tow the line. If she doesn't respect you enough to stop then in sure she'll go to t'other group.

Sorry, full of poor grammar and typos. Hope you got the gist.

Thank you - fuddle thats kind of my thinking with her - she can go back at any time we didnt close any doors with the group. She is old enough to be his mother so not sure on the infatuation, she really doesnt have a clue - who gives a 5yr old auty kid an Iphone and doesnt watch him with it?? We had a spate of calls and message from her two weeks ago - it was the child sending messages and calling - she laughed it off - I was being called while in meetings and training!

Kidkat I was trying to think of a polite way to say she has the hots for him. Fuddle puts it so much better. The only person who can stop it is him by being unavailable to comply with her demands. Sounds like he needs some help with ideas on that one, assuming that he does not want to be the object of her desire/obsession.

Fuddle I also forgot to say the £20 thing sounds like a massive mickey take. Someone is doing themselves a nice little sideline there ripping off people who need jobs. There's no way someone who behaves like that should ever make you feel inferior. It's rotten behaviour, a decent person would do it for free to stand a better chance of getting their commission when the agency places someone suitable for the job.

Hmm, not sure that's ever put me off :p I guess all he can say is that he is really to busy to be constantly at her beck and call. Hope you resolve it.

Welcome back Kezlou - hope the painting is going well, in the past few weeks we have discussed knickers, squirrels, Docky, erm... what else? I expect some kale has crept in somewhere.

I received a letter today from the mobile breast screening unit. I don't know whether to be pleased to get it as it is obviously A Good THing, or miffed that it is for those aged 50 - 70 and I am not even 49 1/2 yet.
I wanna be in the room where it happens

Re Discworld characters...depends on my mood, Esme Weatherwax would be favourite most days as I get older, but I also like Moist Von Lipwig, Lt Angua and Adora Belle. My Scottish blood also leans heavily towards the Nac Mac Feegle. If gender is no issue, I also choose Vimes, or even The Trunk - so little is written about the latter, bit of a dark horse, so to speak! :D Sorry to be so indecisive! :rotfl:

Every single cat my parents had chased various vermin according to their personality - mice for some, spiders/beetles for others, but what they would ALL eat was cheese sandwiches (leftovers chucked by us kids!) - does that say more about our family than the cats, or did we attract peculiar pets? :D

    A xo

Fuddle: I second the idea of being pro-active and trawling residential and nursing homes. Even better if you can turn up in person. It's easier to explain what you want to do face to face and they are sure to be impressed your warm personality.
Yes, you have the neither/nor problem licked. Well done! How you doing with Possessive apostrophes?

Docky: Marmalade sandwiches made and sitting in a plastic ice cream box. I am about to go down to the beach with a couple of towels to dry the pandas off when they arrive. I'll keep you posted.

Peanut: You must feel that you will never be rid of the dratted Ex and all the hassle that he brings with him. It will happen flower, but probably not as soon as you would like. Surely the lawyers can't insist on payment in one lump sum. Can you talk to them and get a phased payment plan worked out? I don't know what else to suggest.
I was also right royally screwed over when I divorced 'the cad', he left with all the pensions (no thought of the wife claiming pensions when we were divorced) all the antiques we had collected over the years and all the money. I fought like a tiger for a fair share of the house but waived my right to maintenance for myself and only asked for a small amount for the children. He paid me back by opening bank accounts for the children and paid the maintenance directly to them, telling them that the money was theirs and they were not to give it to me. Try telling 12 and 14 yearold boys that the money was for boring things like elctricity, food and keeping a roof over their heads.
Where do we find these men?
