Hi all - just had some horrid news. My neice 39 has just had a stroke & been rushed to hospital. My darling SiL & BiL are so devastated as they lost their younger daughter some years ago.
Niece has a 12 year old & a lovely caring hubby - they are such a lovely little family so positive vibes will be much appreciated

Silvasava, Postive vibes being sent .

  • SILVASAVA so sorry to hear your devastating news, I hope she can get through this and recover enough to live a normalish life. DD2 who is a doctor did a rotation on a stroke ward during her university days and said at the time it was amazing what could be done to help stroke patients these days, and there is hope, so don't despair. Sending you all love and praying for her too, Love Lyn xxx.

Silvasava, lots of love, hugs and positive vibes from me and mine, too - thinking of you all x

Someone I knew years ago had had strokes since being a teenager, and as an adult, she's still alive, although not allowed to drive just in case, so plenty of hope out there.

What a complete and utter shock silvasaver. Please keep us informed of how she and your family are doing. I had never thought that strokes can happen in someone so young but I guess anything can happen at anytime. :(

Monnagran The girls' apple, Fuddle's apple or apples... not apple's ;) Did I get it right? Monnagran checked my university application over for me because I wasn't sure if I knew the correct rules re: grammar and punctuation.

Well and up and down day today, never falling short of drama!

I travelled up to MIL's house because she's giving me her old, old laptop. It's 10 years old and a bit slow but not more phone for the forseeable future - although I must warn you the V buton is tempermental.

On the way back down I hit a pot hole and developed a rattle under the car. I know, I was mortified. Pulled it on the drive only to find 2 hours later that there was oil leaking from it. It's in the garage as we speak. I've knocked a gasket or something - worst case scenario is it will be £90 and only if the oil has leaked into some other part. Best case is £30. I was travelling at 60mph at speed limit so hit it at quite a force. I need to look into whether I can claim from the council and about to report the pot hole. Not at all happy but I should have seen it in the road I guess. Could have been worse.

Still no grass in my garden. So tired of looking out onto mud :(

The girls' school must have had a school lunch push yesterday, resulting in bith girls asking for school lunches instead of packed lunches. £100 per month as opposed to £25 packed lunch. I just can't do it and it really upsets me denying them a hot meal.

My sister has told me today that food prices are set to increase by a further 30% by 2017. Does anyone know anything else of this?

You're right, fuddle, as long as you mean 2 or more girls; if it's 1 girl then apostrophe before the s. I get very worked up over "grocer's apostrophes" - even my 5 year old can spot 'em now! :rotfl:

Our infants' school does a thing where you can have school dinner on a Friday every week, so we do that for DS. He's happy because he can be like his friends once a week, and I'm happy as it's only £1.85 once a week!
