Hmm, DW character, I would probably be Sybil as I tend to collect all kinds of unwanted animals and would definately end up with a dragon or two!

I uses to have a large tortie who was ultra fearless. She would catch all kinds from birds (including a large pigeon through the cat flap), rats and rabbits. Most of the bunnies were from the nearby allotments but she did drag a black and white dutch one in one day. :( She was a really kind and cuddly cat as well and met her untimely end ages 8 by picking a fight with a stoat. :( Her sister lived till 16.

Oh and the divorce will be well spent, can finally move on with my life with OH and LO :) Honestly I think that gets to me. I just wanted out of the marriage so told him he could have the house and walked. Now I realise I've walked away from what could be a deposit on a house for me and it does make me kick myself :( Especially when he is not the bigger person :(

    Sorry rant over!

I so know exactly where you are coming from - this could have been me writing this! I relinquished all interest in the house artly for the easy life and partly because morally it the right thing to do (it had been his alone before we married). It didn't half stick in my craw though when he was being such an @rse and causing me quite a bit of bother, he was threatening and also sending pathetic letters about how much I had ruined his life - no mate, you did that yourself by being an absolutely rubbish husband and generally poor excuse for a human being. It was doubling annoying when he went on a gadget buying contest with a mutal friend - each time said friend bought something, useless exH had to get the bigger, better, more expensive version - at the same time DH (was still OH at tiem) and I were struggling to make ends meet! Fast forward a few years - DH and I are now married with 2 beautiful kids, a lovely house (ok so it's rented but it's about as secure as private gets) enough for a holiday or 2 a year in the UK, a regular once a month meal out (babysitters permitting) and a great support network of friends and community as just proved by response to fundraiser. ExH however is still a miserable g!t who will never be satisfied with what he's got - always convinced that the next gadget/DVD box set/bigger telly will make him happy. Ok so he's got more money than we have and if he's stuck to the plan his house will be paid off in 6 years but I know what I'd rather have!

    Chin up lass, hugs X

    Hedgehog song

From Discworld & Terry Pratchett Wiki

The Hedgehog Can Never be !!!!!!ed at All, more commonly known as The Hedgehog Song, is one of Discworld's most famous drinking songs. First mentioned in Wyrd Sisters, then referred to in Witches Abroad, some lyrics are mentioned, but due to the song's adult subject matter (spanning at least seventeen verses) the full version has not been printed. All that can be known is that in regards to certain interactions between humans and animals, the hedgehog is a most fortunate creature.
In the books, the song is associated with Nanny Ogg, who frequently sings it while intoxicated.
The UK paperback edition of Witches Abroad is dedicated "to all those people - and why not? - who, after the publication of Wyrd Sisters, deluged the author with their version of the words of 'The Hedgehog Song'. Deary deary me..."
Speaking of which, several versions of this song can be found around the internet, but the version on Lspace has been "streamlined and expanded by readers of the newsgroup and the L-Space Web site." This is a classic example of a Filk.

I think I shall go and listen to one of the recordings. And then I shall google for another famous Discworldian drinking song; The Wizard's Staff Has a Knob on the End.

:) Believe me, I have been impersonating a responsible middle-aged woman at work all day and am allowed to goof-off on my own time. Heck, I barely drink and only take prescription drugs so have to make my own entertainment........:)

    Fuddle,

When I was starting my nursing training, we needed extra money, so I called all of the care homes in our area to see if they had any jobs, even if they weren't recruiting.

I got a job at the second place I called :)

Unfortunately, the staff turnover at these places can be quite high, so a lot of places are always on the look out for more people.

I would give all the local places a call, and if you have to, force your way in. I did my elective nursing placement somewhere that never even had students through sheer bloodymindedness and force of will, so don't give up!

I think I'd want to be Angua or Adora Belle Dearheart, but I'm much more likely to be Magrat or Agnes Nitt before they developed their spines.
Hester I would love to learn The Hedgehog Song :D

I have yet another problem I would really appreciate your advice with please, as you know I am running a parent support group having met some lovely people at one run in our school. There were issues around confidentiality at the group so we broke away and began our own.
We have about seven regulars and a few occassionals :)

Its all done properly with insurance and a constitution etc. We have one member who is older and a grandmother of the child rather than a parent, and another of our members is an IT whizz, I mean proper It stuff, he built us a web site and all sorts of other great stuff. and he has been so generous at helping us all with our IT disasters, however she is now taking advantage of his good nature. In recent weeks she has been scammed by an online company and he has sorted out the mess.
Her grandchild (who she actually doesnt supervise at all) has deleted everything from her phones, IPAD etc and each week has now become a nightmare, no matter what we have planned she expects him to fix her stuff.
Today we actually told her that it wasnt appropriate and that we were trying to do other stuff - she said oh yes and then handed over the IPAD.

She has also been calling him every day - sometimes three four times, she has arrived at his house a few times too!

I ran a full session on making sensory play items (which were really cool) and she tried to keep him cornered the whole time. He told her today she should look at classes and she refused - said she used computers at work and knows her way around them!

Its really getting me down, him down and the rest of the group - we are losing new people as a result of it all.

And I dont know what to say or do to stop her, she seems completely oblivious.

Hmmm.... when I was younger I would have loved to have been Adora Belle Dearheart.
The character of Tiffany Aching appeals greatly - I would have loved to have grown up as her.
That series - within - a - series of books is supposed to be for children and young adults, but the Nac Mac Feegle are huge favourites of mine.

I'm too old for Sybil and I'm maybe a little too young for Esme Weatherwax or Gytha Ogg, though I'd probably be slightly more towards Gytha.
Not quite how you think, Gytha likes folk music* and singing, plus she can cook and has an interesting past....

*As revealed in I Shall Wear Midnight.

    Edit:
Kidcat, if you are losing new members because of her, she needs taking in hand. Could you not put it in writing signed by all others for her to read, pointing out just how inappropriate her behaviour is?

Mcculloch I would really like to - I just dont want to hurt her feelings. When she went back to the old group for a visit she was telling them all that we were doing - one of our other ladies took exceptional and mentioned we have a confidentiality agreement for the group. I had irate calls and sobbing for days.

But you have given me an idea - how does a new policy that we all sign respecting each and every members right to relax and receive support sound?
