Thank you for delurking for me, I really appreciate it :) thanks toughies, I think I need to toughen up a bit where the job market is concerned. It's all new to me really. I've been lucky in getting positions via word of mouth. My first position was in the comprehensive I attended so...

No the agency doesn't specialise in carers, it vast in what it deals with. I have had an email from them that ha made me quite cross actually. They have looked at my CV and think my sentences are far too complex, that the structure is difficult to understand and that the whole paragraph needs breaking down so it will stand out. For £20 they will do this for me. I'm sorry but my sentences are normal English, written in a way that shows a half decent intelligence and shows my professionalism. I don't what the heck to do! I'm know I'm not paying £20 but now I'm confused. Please will you look over my profile part of my CV?

"I am a highly competent, enthusiastic and compassionate learning support assistant who is passionate about enriching children's lives. I have a lovely, caring, grounded attitude with excellent verbal and non-verbal communication skills. I have a hard working, can-do attitude with a maturity that can time manage and organise successfully. I have worked as part of a team and as an individual, adept at dealing with difficult situations and have experience of following strict guidelines surrounding safeguarding and confidentiality issues. I have vast experience in supporting children and young people, while promoting independence in educational settings"

Fuddle I think your profile is EXCELLENT & what I would be looking for in a competent caring professional. I certainly wouldn't pay £20.00 for some moron to dumb down on my behalf. If they cannot understand the sentences then maybe they are not recruiting the right staff (eg; ones who can string more than two words together) I'm having such a grrrr for you.

added: the devil in me would be tempted to tell them they obviously are not recruiting at a level comensurate with your skills or intellegence

Probably they didn't do more than skim it Fuddle, and that offer is just another way for them to make a fast buck. Con merchants.
  • Just what we thought MAR out to make a quick buck at Fuddles expense and then maybe not have a job, con merchants they sound in truth, Cheers Lyn xxx.

if someone can't understand that Fuddle then they shouldn't be in a position to hire people - if that came across MY desk I would be very happy

Fuddle: You can't antagonise them but NO WAY are they going to sting you for £20. This is a nice little earner for somebody.
I suggest that you send them a note saying 'I am sorry and surprised that you do not understand my CV. Is this version better for you?"
Then boil the whole thing down to bare facts. eg...
I am a competent and experienced learning support assistant.
I love my job and can communicate well.
I have good organisational skills and can work both in a team and as an individual.
I am familiar with safeguarding and confidentiality guidelines.
I can support children and young people until they have progressed to a certain degree of independence.

See if the morons understand that. I thought that what you said was beautifully put, but what would I know?

SQ: and all of you who have survived toxic families.
You have every ounce of love, compassion and admiration that I have to offer. Your maturity and survival skills astound me. I am in awe of you all.

Peanuts: Hope today has been better.

Docky: Send those pandas to me, honey. I have one spindly bamboo plant that should keep them going for ..ooooh...an hour or two at least.

All you squirrel lovers: we have Red ones. Yayadeyaya.

fuddle, it's perfect as it is! You come across as intelligent, articulate and experienced. I wouldn't want to work for someone who claimed my English was too good! If the rest of your CV's the same, then you've nowt to worry about. :D

    A xo

Fuddle, sounds like the usual agency con that we find around here. Sounds as though the staff are in need of some education themselves. I know were i work they like you to be literate.

RE bonus at john lewis and waitrose, where i work we get a profit related bonus. This is store dependant, so if you do well in your shop the more you get. We get a small bonus here, better than nothing tho!!! Enough to help clear up a bill or two.

Second coat of paint on the ceiling, looking good. Tired now, so will hopefully start the walls tomorrow. Grout isnt getting clean very quickly - HELP!!! any ideas. Tried bleach but nearly died from the fumes.

Thanks Lyn. I don't have time for lots of baking at the moment, so I think I'm going to cook it in the oven and freeze in portions. It will either work or it won't!
We had outdoor rabbits when I was a child too, and my mum was frightened to death of them and would never have entertained the idea of them coming inside, so they managed fine outside. But I don't think they were as small as these ones when we got them.
