Hi everyone and Happy Birthday NuttyP.

Softstuff: Thank you for your advice. Who said anything about Damask? The ex-curtains I have in mind are much thicker, stiffer and itchier than that. I prefer Hester's idea of old Tshirts, or would do if I wasn't wearing my old Tshirts. Probably just as well as my sewing skills are pretty comparable to my cake decorating skills. If I really made my own nether garments they would probably be not only hanging below my coat but quite possibly dragging along the ground behind me. Unless, of course, I'd tucked them into my socks.

I know what you mean about 'hole in the ground' toilets, Softstuff. I faced my worst nightmare in a little village at the back of nowhere in India. Pitch dark, it was and I had to hold a torch in my mouth while I negotiated the intricacies of the 'hole in the ground' with just a short curtain, tied to the branch of a tree to protect myself and my modesty from the curious stares of the villagers.
    Goodness! How we've lived.

happy birthday nuttyp! Hope you have a great day.

The sun is shining here but still a little cold (not complaining though, lol). DD2 had her 3 monthly diabetic clinic today. I was a bit worried because she had a bad hypo a few weeks back and was rushed to hospital. I always think I'm going to get my knuckles rapped but it wasn't too bad. Also found out the results of her kidney ultrasound. At the time the sonographer said they looked totally fine and were normal, so I have not worried about it at all - today the consultant told me one of her kidneys has thinning of the connecting tube and all is not well :( She now has to have a kidney test (I think they inject a dye into the body then scan the kidneys). So, all a bit shocked considering what the sonographer said at the time.

Anyway, looking forward to giving the house a spring clean and starting on the garden!

Good evening toughies:) I have hardly had a minute today. Did several wash loads and popped them out on the line. Started the spring cleaning which included cleaning all of the windows in the conservatory. DH bough me a steam cleaner and it's lovely, I'm steaming anything that stands still long enough:rotfl:

I also managed a spell in the garden, the sunshine was lovely and I popped in a few spinach and radish seeds. Everything looks so lovely and fresh at this time of year. There are lots of bulbs popping up now and the roses are all budding well.

We have some really friendly wild birds, a song thrush and also a blackbird, who will come really close when I am pottering -no doubt waiting for me to turn up some worms.

I haven't been around so much the last couple of weeks but hope everyone is doing ok:)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY NUTTY! Hope you've had a lovely day.

Hugs MadelinesMum -keep us posted with the kidney test.

Just a quick post for once - am waiting for DH to come in. For once super organised and had kids fed and our dinner waiting to be served as he walked in the door. He is already an hour late (and counting), dinner will be dry and I am blooming starving. Not a happy bunny especially as it took 2 phone calls and 2 texts from me to find this out.

On plus side had a very bargainous day shopping wise (kind of cancelled out by loosing a tenner - my purse has a hole in it! I did find a shiny 1p, picked it up but no luck came of it :))

right gotta get littlest son off to bed

 Happy birthday nuttyp! Glad you enjoyed yourself.

I've been oot and aboot playing with the dirt after work. Well, beats being at home doing chores and it's so lovely to have a bit of a blow in the air after several hours in t'office. Clear, sunny and cold. I shall be back up there tomorrow if I'm well enough and it stays dry.

Today I have seen the opening of the very first blossoms on the very first blackthorn. Spring is incoming, yippee!

Have a good evening, everyone. GQ xx

Happy birthday nuttyp! Hope it's still going well :)

Softstuff and GQ, you are both around the same sort of space as we have I think we might be in the middle somewhere, however we have a large wasted space in front of the car. There's a proper garage there, but we're both so petrified of the ginormous spiders that live in there, we daren't enter! The mothership comes round every so often and she is in charge of moving stuff to/from the garage.

My day has been exhausting, such a difficult workday that I realised at 4 that I'd only had two cups of tea and a creme egg in my whole working day, whoops! Still, got home and made scones, put chicken carcass on to turn to stock (I hope, this is a New Venture) and did some general washing up and kitchen tidying - quite a feat for me as I'm usually a lazy sod!

    Happy birthday nuttyp!!

Had time to digest to goings on of today. Top and bottom of it is DH is having a salary cut, we are going to have to pull our belts in even further but not going to grumble as we can still keep our heads above water. It could have been much worse news.

I have spent the day frantically applying for jobs. I honestly cannot tell you how many I have applied for. Most of them carer positions and only the ones that said no previous experienced needed, full training given, minimum wage etc etc.

Guess what? I got a call late afternoon from a care agency. It's part-time for one individual client who needs help with housework, cooking, shopping, washing. All the person wants is someone personable, kind and who takes pride in their appearance. I've jumped at the chance and heading to the agency tomorrow. They are going to train me free of charge.

I feel like I've been given an opening into something that can only add to my nursing application when the time comes.

If I'm honest I'm scared and really out of my comfort zone but DH reckons (so sorry toughies!!!) that I get on well with you old biddies (sorry!!!! lol) so should be fine.

Anyway, I'm up and down like ruddy roller coaster and really just need a period of calm now.

Not sure if we'll qualify for childcare help until I see if 'part time' hits 16 hours. Still, going to do it regardless as if we don't well try the voucher route with DH's work.

Oh fudle - I used to quite like your DH but that's it, off the chrissy card list......I'm only 35! :D

Seriously lovey - well done and good luck - youll be great, sounds like just the ticket for you. X

    Madelines Mum - (((hugs)))

GQ - I'm so jealous of you getting to play in the dirt! My garden is glaring ominously at me but I've just not had enough hours in the day to get near it yet - hopefully after the coffee morning.... then stops and thinks 'now how many things have I said that about?' - oops.

Speaking of which must get myself down to it - them bags will not cut themselves up, nor will they sew themselves together!

    Hugs all. X
  • Hey FUDDLE I'm an old biddy and you can come and play with us any time you're in the area, you'll be fine little one, just be yourself and who could possibly find anything to object to??? Try for anything benefit wise that you have even a slight chance of qualifying for, I can't think of anyone who deserves it more, I work on the assumption that if you don't ask, you don't get, Stay strong petal, Cheers Lyn xxx.

Can I unload on you all.
I've just had a phone call from DS1 that has rather shaken me. I must explain that although I love him to bits, he is the one who is responsible for all my grey hairs. He is very volatile and lives from drama to drama - always has done. He isn't a very comfortable person for me to have around as I find that he absolutely drains me. Added to that I don't really like his second wife, although I pray that she doesn't realise that. Anyway, life has been much more pleasant for me since I moved a good few miles away and only have to deal with all the crises over the phone.
Well, to get to the point (at last) the family has been having a lot of trouble with a neighbour who has recently been moved by the council into the house next-door to theirs. This culminated last week end with these new neighbours setting about DS1 and a couple of other people, so much so that DS1 ended up in hospital. That's bad enough but now he has informed me that he is moving to the island!
I could weep. It looks as though my peaceful life, and that of his younger brother, is over.
My first instinct is to tell him that although I will always love him and be his Mum, I don't want to get involved with him or the family while he is is here. I can't bear the thought of him appearing at the door because he and his wife have broken up yet again or any of the other disasters that seem to befall him.
I'm not proud of myself, I feel thoroughly selfish and I really don't like people who behave like this. You all have every right to tell me that I am despicable and I should pull myself together and put my family first. That's what I would tell someone else in my position, but I'm so tired.

Oh dear, what a miserable, self centred post. I may not send it. Yes I will - here goes.
