Thank you for the welcomes everyone :)

My son is 16 months old and I don't use duvets with him. We have quite a few "grobags" which are sleeping bags that hook over his shoulders as someone said above. He is quite a wriggler so they stop him ending up with no covers of a night! He usually has a crochet blanket too at the moment as our house is very old and can be a bit chilly (no gas where we live, only oil heating or coal fires)

I must admit, the main reason he does not have a duvet is because I am scared that he would wriggle down and get a duvet over his head. Just last week, the daughter of a lady whose blog I read (https://www.edspire.co.uk) died tragically at the age of nine months and it is thought that she suffocated under her bed clothes. So desperately sad :(

  • Great news TINA hope you are happy now and sleep better tonight for knowing, Cheers Lyn xxx.
  • Welcome Hippymam! What good news, Tina!
Took myself off this morning for the local equivalent of G.Q's Magic Greengrocer.
This week it was 10 oranges, 5lb Scottish spuds, 500g top quality trimmed local leeks, a bag of mushrooms, 6 nectarines, a bag of deep purple grapes, 6 bananas, a box of cherry tomatoes and a butternut squash for £5.70.

Then managed to find a replacement washing up bowl in Poundland and three good books for DGC for just £1.
Also Ken Bruce's autobiography - I regretted not getting this when it was in The Works, so I'm doubly happy at that.

Heron (discount freezer chain) have stepped up to the challenge of A!di and got some really good stuff in.

I went in with the intention of picking up the odd bargain and came out with so much good stuff - pastrami and chorizo for DS, his favourite super-hot sauce, lovely 2 for £2 luxury pizzas, 5 Heinz stir and serve cup-a-soups for £1, Walls ice-cream at 75p a litre x2 for DGC's as half term is next week... and so much more.

Best of all, I picked up my prescription from B's and no need to ration my painkillers now. I took my Tramadol and am now blissfully pain free for the first time in a few days.

I normally order my repeat prescription online but decided to ring up instead and was told I would have to wait 4 days for the prescription to be ready. Not doing that again. Especially as it was actually ready yesterday and I could have been pain free to visit my friend in hospital. Hey-ho...

I'd missed a parcel whilst I was out, but providing the Trammies work again, cycling down to the delivery office tomorrow won't be painful and will help more than harm.

I'll have to wait until I clear some space and have a look in Herons again. My small bargains were in Tesco's as said earlier mainly veg and meat. Otherwise pretty poor to be honest but I did get 16 bread buns and bread worth £3.50 for 17p. And £4 of veg for 60p.

Glad that you are feeling better...pain can be so dilabating.

Evening toughies - its been manic here so have been managing to read but not post,

So am sending general hugs to all

I am exhausted with juggling kids, normal stuff, catch up from being out of action and then from being out of sorts, then to top it all my dad called earlier to nag about the funeral again, once again I asked him to stop I explained that with every word I got more upset and it was like twisting the knife.
He promised to drop it - then my mum called ten minutes later with the exciting news that she has managed to persuade my cousin to allow me the privilege of providing all the desserts for the after funeral bit!

Am so grateful its half term and there will be no school runs at least and no meetings which is a blessing I seem to have somehow taken on more than I wanted and have no idea how I decide what to drop.

Sorry Softstuff, no can do. I'm injured. A chook wandered by, got curious about the diamond pattern while I was in the hammock and pecked me on the bum. It is quite difficult to leap out of a hammock.

I'm very sorry to hear you were henpecked, I hope it wasn't serious because it really gave me a chuckle :o.

I was reading the blog of a friend in Perth, she has lovely weather too. It's lovely here right now, for ducks. Never seen as much rain, MIL had 70mm in a couple of hours yesterday.

    Hi there Hippymam :j

Kidcat, I don't know what to say about your parents, they defy belief, so have a *hug*. If I was nearer I'd make you a few cakes.

I can't remember the last time it rained. We're on our third hottest February ever, there is no question that temps are rising throughout the State. And after a couple of days, the house gets hot and it is difficult to sleep. Himself went for a swim at 9pm the night before last. I just lay on the sand in the dark and hoped he didn't float away to Rottnest, 'cause I couldn't see him!

Does your friend have a houseful of little ants, or do I have the monopoly? I'm wondering if they are busy preparing for the coming of the Greatest Flood Ever.

Thanks for the info re babies and duvets.suprised mine survived sleeping with duvets on their tummies!
Seriously though ,looking at the gro bag things , they are only 2.5 tog or 4 at th most.A duvet is 9 pr 10 so much warmer. our house is old and cold and we have never heated at night so surely baby will get cold?
