Morning all. Its dry but very dull and grey here.
GQ i woke up this morning to a cold cuppa the front door open and a note to say 'gone to see Prudence as she has the yellow ball!' I think she is bored of the cold and rain here. I know i am.
I never used duvets for my children until they were in their own beds. They had blankets, except my youngest who had the grobags. She loved them and i even used the toddler age 2-3 ones for her. She would bunny hop along the landing to see me when she woke up in the mornings and never had cold feet.
Today i need to finish a bobbly cardi for youngest daughter. Half a short sleeve and the collar to go so shouldnt take too long. I also need to do some neglected housework but i will make my little darlings help. They made the mess so they can certainly help clean it up!
Oh yes - must sit with little one and watch scooby doo. We love us some scooby!0 -
 I've just rung Qu.antas to issue them with a description of Nursie so they won't let her board. She's on an international "no fly" list anyway. but you can't be too careful, especially after the incident with the Ambassador's chocolates.....
Besides, Prudence has a heatwave to handle and a chicken-damaged derriere and the poor lady doesn't need a barking mad incarnation of my overactive imagination on her doorstep, teamaking expertise or not.
Except I shall have her back here before long.....sigh.....Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Good morning all
Well yesterday was the last day of my current job. I have had two beautiful bouquets of flowers and half a dozen lovely cards. I am on a few days leave now and start the new job in just over weeks time. I am both excited and nervous at the same time.
Currently waiting for DD to get washed and dresses so that I can take her to the local Urgent Care Center as she has been brewing another bout of sinusitis for a week and a half an has got up today with the mother of all headaches which is usually the sign that it has reached the point where she needs antibiotics.
Right DD has appeared so had better goI am playing all of the right notes just not necessarily in the right order.

GQ you can't in all humanity allow Nursie to go international. the thought of that pales even the North Korean Nuclear Test into insignificance. Disraeli used to say 'Send a Gunboat' before you know it we'll have DC saying 'Send Nurseeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!' and can you imagine in your wildest imaginings what that would lead to?
Lyn xxx.
That wasn't her in Russia yesterday having a major sort out was it? I kind of imagine that would be her effect on the area she was sorting, Tell me I'm wrong!!!!!!!!!!!!!0 -
Oh dear ....18is about what we get to with heating on! Overnight in winter you can see breath but wrap up with big duvets in bed.baby is not living with us .....we think.......but will have to get a plug in heater for the room.cant afford to heat it all day and night!0

Elisamoose. Although I have no idea about babies I would have thought that being in a draught would cause more problems than just a cool room. We grew up in a council house in N Cumbria with no central heating and used to get ice on the inside of the old metal framed single glazed windows.0

Elisa its all about layers, I used mittens and grobags with my youngest two, I added in sheets, blankets as necessary.0

Elisa - you can get the oil heaters that plug into the mains with a thermostat. They are supposed to be economical. It is also dangerous for babies to get too cold so very sensible to consider.
The advice for SIDS is always changing but on back to sleep, with feet touching bottom of cot. You can buy or be given these temperature strips - have one in the baby cot or moses basket so you can see how warm/ cold it is in there. They also advise how many blankets there should be according to colour on the strip and if you double up the blanket then you double up the tog. I also used to advise that the back of neck or chest is a good place to feel how warm/ cold baby is - feet/hands often cold so not representative. After the first couple of days a healthy baby is very good at regulating their own temperature and basically will need to have on the same layers as you - so if your house is so cold that you need a hat on then they will too - Generally though babies dont need a hat on inside!I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -
I have just had a vision of Nursie on a plane, overcoming the crew and taking over from the pilot, laughing hysterically!0

Seriously though ,looking at the gro bag things , they are only 2.5 tog or 4 at th most.A duvet is 9 pr 10 so much warmer. our house is old and cold and we have never heated at night so surely baby will get cold?
I am seriously wondering about getting a baby book.never bothered when it was me having the babies!
Our youngest had sleeping bag and duvet on top-our bedroom was absolutely freezing and without duvet she was awake every 30 minutes or so.0
