  • Hello!
Just wanted to share bread recipe-I make it every week 2-3 times and it's wonderful
The only problem is-this bread is very easy to make but my kids finish it off within one hour!

Thanks Kate. I may just accept doing an odd loaf or two is not too costly, even a cheap Bread Maker seems expensive IYSWIM.

Though I got a loaf reduced tonight at the SM Hovis Best of Both(seeded)for 55p and it is dated 15th February so still not out of date.

  • still trying to keep up, but lagging behind!
I've made some really lovely and very cheap recipes over the past couple of weeks that some of you might like. tonights was proably the cheapest, spiced bean quesadillas. really tasty and the girls polished them off.
i fried 1/2 onion and 1/2 pepper with 2 garlic cloves and some cumin and also a bit of burrito seasoning i found lurking and was only a bit (6months lol) ood. i added half a tin of baked beans and half a tin of kidney beans, lightly mashed.
put a flour tortilla (19p for 8 in b&m at the weekend) in dry frying pan and top with a spoonful of beany stuff and sprinkle with grated cheese, top with another tortilla and fry until it starts to brown then flip and fry other side.
the three of us had one each for tea and i cooked the extra one for them to take to school cold tomorrow, half each.

we also had a lovely cheesy potato and veg bake, just layers of thinly sliced potato, onion, carrot, and cheese sauce (yes we eat far too much cheese in this house!).

and...DH cooked. not only did he cook, he did a fab job and was very mse. he picked up a reduced pack of lamb breast (pretty cheap even before the reduction) and put it in the slow cooker with veg and stock and did a really gorgeous looking stew type thing ( i'm veggi, so for me to say it looked good then it really must have ;) ). him and the kids had a big plateful with mash and there was enough left over for the girls to take to school the next day in their flasks.

we've been really economical with the shopping this month and the bank accounts are starting to see the benefit, but as always theres a fly in the ointment. DH called last night to say the car isn't running properly. warning light came on and losing power when over 60mph. had to book it in at the garage for the morning so any money we managed to not spend we may well be waving goodbye to :(

    Evening :)
    Ti
Just dropping in to say everything is ok here. :)

Computer broken so been using library service to type up my uni application. I have out everything into it and had our resident head teacher look over it for me for gramatical errors. I'm very proud of it so fingers crossed.

My jalopy wouldn't start this morning and DH was in Scarborough so of we all walked to school, got there at 9.45. Receptionist thanked me for making the effort which I found bizarre.

Edit: sorry for errors, timothy is back!

Jalopy is currently hooked up to battery charger, best thing is the young lad next door knocked to say he was a trainee mechanic and if we needed a hand to give him a shout. I feel a bit better knowing he's there.

Lastly, I made the school newsletter last week. Cars reversing iutside of school, bumper encroached pavement where youngest was and nearly hit her. I had to smack in the window to get it stop and was sworn at. Ended up sobbing in school. Parents as?ked to not to park on pavements around school.

Life tests us everyday huh, still I'm managing to conquer the hurdles with a smile in my face. Take care everyone
  • Grey Queen - I think Nursie may have already nobbled the DWP on my behalf! Checked the online bank today and there was a payment labeled DLA but it wasn't DD's reference number and it works out to be roughly what the back pay would be for when I requested DS's form if they have awarded MRC!!! So I *think* (hope) that he has been awarded MRC which is what we thought he should get. I only sent the form back 2 weeks ago so think I should offer my services as a form filler as it was 2 weeks from form received to money in the bank for DD too.

Once we get the letter confirming it DH is going to put his letter in at work requesting to drop Friday so he can help out more at home as by Friday I am physically shattered. I will also use the backpay to pay off the Centre Parcs holiday in the summer so we can start to book activities.

DD's specialist car seat came at the weekend and we used it for the first time today - it is going to make life so much easier on my back getting her in and out of the car but I have to say it certainly doesn't look like it should have cost £1144!

Our friend came round tonight to get all the details for the poster - he's a web designer so we tasked him with doing the poster for the coffee morning. So should hopefully have that by the end of the weekend.

Onward and upwards - hugs all. X

    hi all,

i'll read back and see how everyone is.

Haven't been on as i'm in the middle of moving house, the council offered us one and we've took it, three bed with a garage:j.

So i've spent the day waiting around for the gas and water to be switched on. Gave the inspector (housing officer) a stern telling about how the ceilings needed re-plastering. Apparently they only do repair not full work, daft eh? . But after much deliberation, i.e me being stubborn so and so,negotiated half of the front room and the small bedroom to be plastered. Fingers crossed all will be done by the end of the week.:T

So by Sunday we should be in a new house which seems to have a nice green (play) area out the front. Its a shame though, just as we got the new bathroom(s) and kitchen we leave. But needs must, i can't cope with the mould any more. On the other side think i might be a bit bored, won't have all the gossip off the street :rotfl:. So far in five days we've had the immigration service raid, three drug raids and the rspca. All this from a supposedly good area lol think i'll have to start watching soaps again for entertainment lol

Evening All, made some pancakes today. Had to since its pancake day! :D

Pops, whats the tip for cleanly ripping clingfilm? I always end up with it in bits!

Job wise? I got a call this morning and the agency said that one of the interviewers they spoke to was really pleased with me. Just need to hear feedback from the other. So good news, but until I hear the words "start date" I'm not counting my chickens.
CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. You can enjoy it even if you don't understand it and too much can give you a headache the next day J

Katie1974, thanks for the bread recipe I am going to try that before I go to bed. I really want to make a good loaf and even in the BM I never succeed, I have tried everything so one last go.

Lisakay I do quesilladas for lunch for us and they are yummy, ham cheese and onion are our favourites.

SDG love the nursie rules made me howl laughing. Hope you shake off the black dog thats following you hunny.

OH slept the day away and is a little better now, but mostly I enjoyed the quiet and having time to myself - does that sound selfish? Sorry but it was good for me to not have to think and run around for a few hours.

Stiltwalker for that price the car seat should have come with a free car :D But its worth it if it makes your life easier. Glad your payments are finally coming through so hubby can be there with you that will make a big difference to your life and the children will love it. Every weekend will be a long weekend now and maybe when the weather is better (crosses fingers) you will be able to get out and about without rushing to fit everything in 2 days. hugs ginny

evening all. Ive had a trying afternoon. New starter handed their notice in, as its too harda job!! Then sat doing sudoku puzzles, a grown man of 43 found it too hard working till 10pm as his wife doesnt want him out that late!!

But when i first arrived at work, i was given 12 pink roses. A man who is 62, we know as we gave him a birthday party at the bookies!! He bought me and a coleegue a bunch of flowers each as we are very nice. I was so touched, its nice to be appreciated. I shared my kitkat and had a cuppa with him later while we watched the horse racing, Simple pleasure, just having 5 mins chat with him and listening to his storys of yesteryear. Some days we are like agony aunts.

I found out today i am in credit to the council withmy rent, to the tune of 2 weeks worth. So i have delayed my standing order for 2 weeks. We get rent free weeks over christmas and new year, but i forgot. Its nice when they call to tell you youve overpaid, not underpaid for a change.

Well must go to be, it is geting late.

    Sleep well everyone x
