VJ 'course you get the badge - even if the marmalade is pre-prepared you still only put sugar in it & not all those glucose thingy's so that it has to be stored in the fridge (what is that all about - jams that have to go in the fridge once they're opened?)

MrsL Total agree with vehicles being parked on the pavement - we live near a corner & when vans park half (or more) on the pavement we can't see whose coming round the corner when we come out of our drive - & don't get me started on people that reverse into main roads eeek!!

Mornig everyone, just back from the hairdressers. It is a small treat to myself. I only get a dry cut as its far too expensive to have it washed etc etc. Sunday i got youngest DD to dye my hair, it had a few bits of blonde from the summer hair colour and quite a few stray grey hairs in it. So im a multitude of varying shades of brown, i chose the wrong hair colour. Was only 1.99 tho in the sale!

I have made the pancake mix for tonight, im working but OH and youngest will be eating them. I have cheese sandwich for tea. Just the normal. I have been healthy eating for a few weeks now, more than usual. The hairdresser said i looked like i had lost weight, even tho i hadnt mentioned it. Maybe i have.....

right must get things sorted, work becons....

    Take care everyone.

Katie - hugs to you and your poor DD - not sure there is a miracle smiley but I'll certainly cross everything for BF to get the supervisor job.

Mrs L - I'm with you on the cars/vans on pavements, it's a blloming nightmare with the pushchair as I have to go out into the road and you can guarantee there are no handy drop kerbs so I literally have to have my feet having the floor to get enough leverage to make the tank (our nickname for the big double pushchair - heaven knows what we'll call the new one as it's even bigger!) do a wheely so I can get up the kerb. Also how lovely are you to remember some of our old friends - can I add my voice to that sentiment and hope you are all ok.

I've got everything crossed for you here as well Unixgirl - hope they saw how fantastic you are and give you the job.

Kept DD off nursery this morning as when I went in to get them up she just looked up at me cross eyed and mostly vacant with tiredness so I asked her if she wanted a Lion (lie in) instead of nursery and she just said "oh yes" and stuck her head back down. You can tell it's the end of the half term!! So she had some extra sleep and she's looking a lot better now.

Ok - must get ready to go to our group this afternoon, have a cool little pressie to deliver for someone elses little boy and tell them all about the fundraiser.

Catch you all later - Hugs.

Katieowl have everything crossed for your daughter, she doesnt need all this stress does she? I hope the HB etc come soon so she can relax a bit.

I know what you mean about the van thing, everyday our landlords vans are parked outside our house, I think I need to get a designated disabled bay painted on the road soon . The new driveway will be a big help but gawd help anyone who parks across the gates - they will need to move very fast or a grey haired menopausal woman who resembles me will chase them away :rotfl: The guys doing the fencing and driveways must have been shipped from another planet because they are the nicest most considerate workmen I have ever met, they even brought my bins in this morning bless them.

Aww Stilty I would love to have seen your DD snuggling down again, thats the best feeling when you realise you dont really have to get up :D

We just picked Dgs up from group and he was almost asleep stood up bless him. He also had orange hands from painting and wasn't remotely bothered who he shared it with. He still managed to sing the bye bye song when we dropped him off but I bet he is asleep on his Mummy now.

Well Oh is back in bed as his is not good today so I am going to have a bit of a craft session in total peace.

  • GINNY what you really need is to borrow Nurseeeee from GQ for a while and buy her a traffic Wardens Outfit, I can see the problem dissapearing very swiftly after that, yes? What a mental picture that gives me!!!!!!! Cheers Lyn xxx.

*pops my head around the door*

My depression is kicking my bottom at the moment, so I'm reading along and sending everyone my best wishes. I'm functioning, going out when I have to and everyone is getting fed and clean clothes. That's about my limit at the moment.

I just wanted to say that there are some basic rules for having GQ's Nurse as a house guest and I thought I should pass them on.

    1. Never feed her after Midnight
    2. Only feed her red meat every other Tuesday and only if there is an "R" in the month.
    3. Lock up the Gin
    4. Don't let her play any computer games...not even Bejewelled. The scene she made in Tesco when stopped from playing it with the tubs of Ben and Jerry's is one I'm still trying to forget.
    5. She can be calmed with the smell of bleach and the sound of bedpans being clanged together.
    6. She likes kittens and puppies, but only with ketchup. Babies give her indigestion.
    7. she makes a blinding cup of tea, but can become fixated on it. If this happens and she is making more than 100 cups a day distract her with something shiny and put her in the cupboard for 24 hours for her to reset herself.
    8. Remember a Nursie is for life and not just for The World Toe Wrestling Championships.

    Love and hugs xxxxxxxxx

Katie my heart goes out to you and your daughter. Things will be ok in the longer term though they are difficult now. Just wait and see.

Good for you going to the hairdressers nutty -it's important to treat ourselves.

Had a mixed couple of days. DH's birthday was good in the end but there was some tension and tears (tears from me at receiving end of DH's bad mood caused by lack of contact from his side of family). DS8 played up at swimming in the morning and DH temporarily lost his jacket plus wallet in the changing rooms. We turned it around anyway, made up and went out for a lovely pizza with the kids who behaved themselves.

Just back from my volunteer interview which went really well. They were full of praise for my application form (which i worked very hard at ;)) So I am buzzing and emotionally tired at the same time. Feel more confident about the interview skills course I have tomorrow now.

Off to collect kids. Hope everyone's ok or at least managing. Not long til spring now... so we all have that to look forward to

    sq:)

Hey, Been disappointed with the latest Hairy Bikers series(though I don't mind them)but tell you what I have enjoyed and watched two in the early hours of this morning...The Mary Berry Story. A few recipes(so simple and not costly in the main)but also an interesting life.

I liked the tip about getting more juice out of a lemon by putting them in a microwave for 30 seconds...

I still pick up small tips, thanks to Nigella I can rip cling film easily now(after decades)and without using the cutter on the box.

Still debating whether to have a go(and factoring the energy costs in)whether to do some home made bread or occasionally support the new bakers in the town and pay a little extra for my bread.

The amount that I eat it probably won't make much difference to my food budget and I don't have to use the oven.

Then again I thought a bread machine uses a lot of power but it appears I am wrong on that so may consider getting one...not the most expensive fancy one but it could give me some home made bread?

I see the super six at Aldi's are being advertised Pineapple, Mango, Garlic, Kiwi Fruit, Chesnut Mushrooms and Cucumbers so a bit of a change and not badly priced but this selection is 59p(where recent items have been 39p)on offer until 23rd February.

Pops - I watched Mary Berry's story on catchup - really enjoyed it. I still have a Christmas Cake recipe from 1967 of hers that always comes out brill (I'll have to retype it one day as I'm working from a very dog eared & spattered photocopy!!)
SDG - Hugs & hope the black dog b*gg*rs off soon - is GQ's nurse related distantly to the Gremlins?
Unix - Well done - do hope you get the job offer fingers crossed for you.

Pops I have a cheap BM and its fine for everyday stuff - I quite off will throw a breadmix in it and sometimes will let it do all the work but then use the oven itself to bake it, depending on my mood and what else I am cooking.
Cucumbers have been 50p at Mr A for a few weeks so they still beat Ald! super six prices.

    SDG ((hugs))

Stiltwalker - you are so right, my lot are struggling this week - DS14 wont be going in tomorrow he is just flagging, am hoping he can do Thurs and Fri if he misses tomorrow.
