Pops, whats the tip for cleanly ripping clingfilm? I always end up with it in bits!
Job wise? I got a call this morning and the agency said that one of the interviewers they spoke to was really pleased with me. Just need to hear feedback from the other. So good news, but until I hear the words "start date" I'm not counting my chickens.
Dead simple unixgirluk, you pull off what you need but instead of tearing it with the roll held horizontal, you hold it vertically(now that I say that, this tip will not work):pTear near the roll and do it pretty quickly.
Nigella showed this on her last series and it has never failed me since...

That's a lovely story NuttyP,

Morning all,
I'm working from home today to get my head down and do some report writing. Not only will it save me 2 1/2 hours of commuting, but I can also catch up on washing etc at the same time.
I've been keeping up with everyone's news: smiling and feeling sad in equal measure. Not been posting as I don't really have much to add!
Kate - thanks for reminding me about that bread recipe. I'd see it before, but have never got round to trying it. Will give it a go this weekend.
I'm on cake duty in the office this week so I'm making the Jamie Oliver chocolate cake. I'm going to increase all the ingredients and make a few muffins with the extra for a Valentine's treat for OH (yes I know I'm soppy!)
We've got light snow here, we seem to be getting off very lightly compared to other parts of the country.
Have a good day everyone.0 -
Morning Toughies, dry but cool here and looking forward to a dry walkies this morning!!!
FUDDLE rotten computers, but hello TIM again, keep on honking!!!!! So sorry you had the scare with your little one, the school driving here is appalling they park on the pavement on both sides of the road and it's impossible to walk there, I go in the other direction rather than try. Yesterday the boy and I were waiting to cross a road within the drop off zone and one idiot parked directly in front of me to let her little darling out of the car, then nearly hit me as she tried to do a turn in the road and nearly ran me down as I tried to cross, she wouldn't make eye contact and drove off fast!!! Nice to know you have a nice neighbour who will help with Jaloppy though!
UNIXGIRL glad you have had positive feedback from the interview, can't wait to read those words I got the job, good luck!!!
KEZLOU thought you'd be busy sorting out for the move, it's such a lot of work isn't it? but worth it for a lovely new home. Well done on holding out for the re-plastering, good on you. Hope the actual move goes really smoothly for you and you enjoy your lovely new home.
McCULLOCH Sorry you are feeling iffy and hope you settle down with the new meds soon or they can give you something that suits you better. You still find time in all this to help Pops and organise his lifts to your music club, you are a good friend indeed, there should be more like you in this world, it would then be a much better place, you're a goodun'
Take care all and stay warm and dry if you can, Cheers Lyn xxx.0 -
Morning all
7WW - I am working from home too. So is OH - which at least means that the heating will be on. I don't usually bother if it's just me, I merely light a couple of candles. We are both bunking off this afternoon to go to the pictures, but have both been putting in lots of extra hours so I don't feel guilty.
I am in a rut with food. Can't seem to come up with anything original that everyone will eat. I do look at the "dinner" thread, but photographs of food put me offI am having a concerted effort to run down the freezers so I can stock up again with fresh meat and kind of "start again". I have only been trying for a year and a bit
.
Apparently it is going to be warmer for a few days :T - the thought of spring approaching is what is keeping me going.
Have a good day all.I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
:T Great news about the payment, Stiltwalker, but could I ask what MRC means? Haven't bumped into that one before and don't like to let an acronym escape unchallenged.
Unix, fingers crossed for a start date really soon.
nuttyp, awww that sounds lovely. Bet you were made up.
fuddle, good luck with your application, was wondering what you were up to. Some car drivers beggar belief, don't they? I used to be a militant schoolgirl cyclist and my least-fave car driver's stunt was when they'd overtake me a few yards from a T junction then tuck in right to the kerb, forcing me to do an emergency stop. Which isn't as effective on a pushbike as it is in a car, esp in the rain.
 I expect that they thought that I'd levitate above their car/ run over their roof/ evaporate in such a way that meant that their suddenly occupying the next bit of road I was about to use didn't matter.
They'd get a very loud flathanded slap on their roof for their trouble. I was a bolshy piece of work.
Sufffering from overtiredness this week but ust having to get on with it. We have some anxious-looking brass monkeys outside but at least it's dry at the moment. I've topped up a hole in a recently-poured candle with a bit of extra wax whilst making tea on the other burner. I am woman, watch me multi-task.
Suppose I should get properly dressed and ready to face the world but I'm on a late today and don't have to go in for a while, so will just ignore the supposeds and chill for a while.
Hope everyone has a good day, GQ xxEvery increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Wehey - spring must be on the way. I've just been out to check on the hens and found two eggs in the nest box: the first since the end of October:j
VJsmum: I'm sat here with a hot water bottle and quilt round my knees. Will definitely try lighting some candles (I've got a couple of really nice soya based one which were a pressie). The thought of OH and me both working from home is  we'd never get *anything* done!
When peope park on the pavement I'm so tempted to put a note under their windscreen along the lines of "I'm so sorry, I think I might have scratched your car trying to get my pram along the pavement", but not sign it. I don't actually have a pram, and I haven't touched their car, but I'd just like to imagine them searching their precious car for non-existent scratches and maybe it might make them think. Does that make me really bad?
Right, back to the writing!0 -
Morning all. Apologies for not being around over the last few days. Little brother has been being bullied very badly at school over the last few months and was threatened by an adult saturday evening so we had to call the police. They came out sunday morning to talk to brother about the bullying he has been getting and the upshot is they are going to speak to the little darlings at his school. Getting an adult to pretend they are the father of one of them and threatening to kill my brother is just NOT on!:mad::mad::mad:
Add to that my eldest daughter was taken to hospital with chest pains last night and i was getting hourly updates on what was happening by cousin who went with her and i am shattered and have a raging headache.
GQ nursie is so loving and caring isnt she? She has just thrown a packet of paracetamol at me and sloshed half a glass of water over the side with a mutter of....something. Not too sure what. She does make a lovely cuppa though.0 -
Morning everyone!
It's a bit icy here this morning but at least the daylight hours are increasing, a sure sign that we will soon have spring!
I bought three little mini windowsill propagators from the GC on Sunday and put Lettuce seeds in two and Spinach in the other. The Lettuce has begun to shoot already! I am only growing them for salad leaves not full size lettuces so hopefully harvest time will not be too many weeks away:D
I was up at 6am as usual this morning but felt a bit tired -I think I went a bit mad at swimming last night. So after DH had left for work and I had tidied and hoovered around, I sat down again to watch the news and promptly fell asleep:o
Unfortunately our house bunny took full advantage of my 'absence' and has obviously had a fabulous time decorating the entire kitchen and front room with hay from his box  So I will now have to hoover again. Serves me right I suppose:o
Not too much happening here today. We have to visit DMiL in her Nursing Home later this afternoon and that's pretty much it apart from the usual day to day stuff.Sealed Pot Challenge 7 Member 022 :staradmin:staradmin:staradmin

7up - that's more than not on!! I'm mad too on your and brother's behalf - the 'little darlings' need more than a talking too!
GQ - MRC is mid rate care it means that they have recognised DS needs considerable extra care at intervals throughout the day.
Kids both dropped off at nursery - DD was back to herself this morning and raring to go and DS had a right little excited jiggle when he realised that it was his day too! Then he made kissy faces at his person when we got in there.
Got my OU books out but not really in the mood as I'm all bunged up and feel like I'm coming down with a cold. Also got quite a lot of white stuff coming down outside which is worrying me a bit as I will have to get out to get the kids and DH later.
Take care all - Hugs.0 -
SEVENUP Hugs, hugs and more hugs!!!!! Hope things get better for both your little brother and DD very, very quickly as they will then be better for you. Nursie believes in tough love doesn't she so if all else fails, duck!!!!!! Chin up pet, Cheers Lyn xxx.0
