Thanks Kidcat,
I beleive in getting the gadgets whilst I can and if it helps make cooking easier why not?
Sounds as though its not going to use much energy or not as much as an oven.
I have to work between Tesco's and Aldi on my town...a half cucumber is 39p in Tesco's so Aldi is better but I never seem to use up even a half so is it false economy buying a full one?
In a way I'm only saving 20p with Aldi's offer. But not really if I throw some of it away."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson

Going to have to miss the music club tonight, tablets not quite agreeing with me, atm, I think, and best not to risk an outing.

I'm amazed by that tip... :T I tried it after I saw the programme it's AWESOME how much more juice you get, and it's so easy!
I have a lot of lemons left after my baking with no zest and one of my resolutions has been to make sure they all get used up. This week and last week, I've juiced them all using this suggestion and bunged the juice in the fridge in a jam jar, and it's been great having lemon juice at hand as I need it!
When I had my gadget (mislaid) for the electric, we worked out the cycle in the bread machine cost 5p. We think it's so cheap that it has to be worth making the bread now! Plus of course you know exactly what's gone in it!

I loved the Mary Berry programme as well. My all time recipe book is the Hamlyn all colour cookbook. It was not until I saw the programme that I realised she was involved in writing it.
I have been busy baking this week for work. I am not having a leaving do and this is my last week so I volunteered to make cakes for Monday and Friday. The sponge cake made it as far as the car park and down the side of the car on Monday. With all of the butter-cream it slid down the car beautifully :rotfl:
Have tried several recipes from the Hairy dieters this week, I really liked the casssoulett. We are having the minestrone soup tonight followed by pancakes.I am playing all of the right notes just not necessarily in the right order.

Pops you can keep cucumber fresh for much longer if you wrap it in foil and keep it in the fridge...it also works for celery“The superior man, when resting in safety, does not forget that danger may come. I tried the 'lemon' trick for the first time ever tonight when I was making the pancakes. I couldn't believe the amount of juice that came out of one lemon!
We had some HM Moroccan Chickpea Soup tonight for dinner -it was very filling -nearly couldn't fit the pancake in:eek:
I've also made a couple of batches of Beef Hot Pot so that should keep us going for a bit longer. I need another trip to the butcher now though.
I don't know about everyone else but I am becoming really freaked out by some of the commercially processed food. Thank goodness I make most things from scratch, but all this talk about what's in what is really putting me off. I am becoming a bit suspicious of everthing and I'm not prone to paranoia normally.
Anyway DH and myself are off to swimming tonight to try and work off the chick pea soup and pancake.......it's going to take a bit of effort:eek::D
(((hugs))) as always for those needing them. I do read all the posts and feel very sad for those with worries, but I don't always feel I can contribute with a useful/helpful comment. Never the less, I am thinking of you.Sealed Pot Challenge 7 Member 022 :staradmin:staradmin:staradmin

Pops - I watched Mary Berry's story on catchup - really enjoyed it. I still have a Christmas Cake recipe from 1967 of hers that always comes out brill (I'll have to retype it one day as I'm working from a very dog eared & spattered photocopy!!)
SDG - Hugs & hope the black dog b*gg*rs off soon - is GQ's nurse related distantly to the Gremlins?
Unix - Well done - do hope you get the job offer fingers crossed for you. She's the unholy offspring of Attila the Hun and Nurse Gladys Emmanuel.
Sounds like we need to clone her and send her around the country to sort out various households. Prolly could sick her on the DWP on behalf of some of our regulars and their nearest and dearests...............
SDG, I'm sorry to hear that your black dog has been back again but thank you for your Nurse management rules. I was roaring with laughter. For a figment of my imagination, she has taken on a life of her own. Bit worrying, really.:rotfl:
I'm a tired little bunny lately as have been doing the work stuff and running around helping SuperGran who was admitted to hospital at the weekend. They only kept her one night and have her on tablets but have told her to SLOW DOWN. Ye gods and little fishes, the woman doesn't know the meaning of the word. I've tried grounding her and running errands to the pharmancy and the grocery shopping but it's hard to keep a busy woman down. I took a cuppa with her late this aft and the phone kept ringing non-stop.
Good luck for the jobhunters amongst us and hope everyone is warm and well tonight. I shall have little amble around then probably another very early night as can barely keep up with this RL business at the moment.

So sorry that you are unwell:(Better to be safe, thank you for sorting out the taxi that is very thoughtful. I have misplaced the charger for my mobile so cannot use it to phone...I would've had to look for a phone at the club...
Will e-mail when I get home...

Said elsewhere on MSE...
Pancakes for supper and even better I now have some that are crepes(and have a lemon syrup inside)and are already rolled and can be done in the microwave:p
Lovely...
Thanks for the advice about storing celery and cucumbers 2T.
I still think that we need a cookery programme showing basic and budget recipes..."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson
