Fingers crossed for you unixgirluk(especially if its what you'd like to do)
Spending money(I probably should not be...)but I tried to get a Daily Mail(sold out:()You may remember earlier I said they are running a series on the 5/2 diet plan perhaps that's why it sold out. I found some high quality pork sausages 12 for £5 I got them for £2.29 and there was a pork and stuffing lattace thing for £2(I think I can get three or four portions out of that)so I may have that on Valetine's Day with something nice.
Bought some pease pudding to go with some ham in the freezer and a bottle of reduced light soy sauce.
What I have should stretch well...
Been thinking I did not have it often but we used to sometimes have frozen stir fry by a company called Ross. But that saved me the preperation...I haven't seen anything by that company ages...
Bumped into care person from the home Mum was in for a some weeks and found out that they were surprised Mum passed away when she did(earlier)but that they had been told that Mum was expected to only live six weeks...I was never told that. I was always led to believe that there was hope.
Yet I discovered someone who was really poorly(dementia, stiff and in bed all the time is still alive if you can call that living)

Evening gang. Baking day for us today. Just about finished, but should be washing my hair not on here
I just heard from my friend in London with mental health problems, who is being repossessed on Thursday. Local authority have told her to go in when she is actually evicted and then they will 'help' They told her they 'may' send her to Birmingham!!! Brilliant.... vulnerable adult, sent away from GP, those that know her situation, hospital drop in etc. to somewhere she's never been! How do you get there? Do they stick you on a train??? My friend is desperate with directions and finding places at the very best of times, I'd known her for years before she realised my house was the other side of the Thames (as she'd only ever been on a tube coming under the river) God only knows how she'll find Birmingham, let alone a specific address there...
This is after a day of hearing DD freaking out about having no job and no money, and worrying her little socks off about what will become of her and the baby. She can't even get sure start (?) food vouchers, because her BF doesn't work enough hours, they won't let her sign on for JSA because she'd get no benefit (convenient that, so she's not on the figures!) and they don't yet get any HB or CTB.
I really am starting to despair about where all this will end... really I am!

Pops, Heron do pre-prepared stir-fry veg and it's fine, mange-tout, waterchestnuts, peppers, top quality. You cook it from frozen and it takes about 15 minutes to thaw and heat through.
All the 5:2 diet is, is basically restricting your calorie intake to 500 calories two days a week and being sensible about eating on the other days. Stirfries are ideal for coming in under 500 cals.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -
katie - I am sure that even if your DD can get no benefits she is entitled to sign on - it maintains her stamp - is there a CAB or welfare rights group that can advise her?
THis is how unemployment figures are dropping clearly0 -

I agree, plus after so long you can't get JSA. I don't know if they are discouraging people from signing on by saying they won't get benefits, but I'm not sure if or how they can stop you, surely they are there to help people find jobs. Googling might help...
edit I found this, hopefully it's relevant http://www.relaunchyourcareer.co.uk/what-to-do-when-youve-been-made-redundant/claiming-benefits-should-i-sign-on/what-happens-when-i-sign-on-for-job-seekers-allowance/0 -

Another idea(Thanks)and a few different vegetables to consider:D and probably quicker but I have so much veg to use up.
I can see me having a middle of the night snack(its ready just have to get it on the stove)and another one late afternoon tomorrow but must leave room for the pancakes;)
I had a feeling the diet was quite basic, I'm kind of doing it without really knowing that I am."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson

If your daughter is claiming child benefit for a child under 12, then her N.I contributions for her pension will be credited under the home responsibilities protection.
Take a look at turn2us.org for a benefits calculator. If it states anything different to what she has been told, print it off and take to job centre, they have been known to get things wrong.;)
I was on the 5.2 diet today and was doing really well until Dinner tonight, I totally forgot about the diet:doh: and had a huge bowl of pasta and a glass of wine!0 -
VJ'smum you definately get an award for your baking, as I have oft said 'you can e mail cake you know?' I love coconut. I made 6 big muffins and dozens of tiny ones as I bought a silicone mini muffin tray and my Ikea paper cases fitted perfectly. DGS will get to try them when we pick him up from group tomorrow.
Katieowl, I will check with my DD as she finished college in the midst of her pregnancy so will know whats what. I despair of this damned country, it seems everyday good people are getting hurt by the 'rules'
Am off to bed to write lists as my brain works better when I have my tootsies on a hot water bottle.Clearing the junk to travel light
Saving every single penny.
I will get my caravan0 -

They (Job Centre) said to her that there was 'no point' in her signing on because she wouldn't get any money, and she'd got 30 years to make her stamp up  Clear and blatant massaging of the unemployment figures IMHO.
CAB told them they should get HB and CTB....all forms are in but they are still waiting to hear, just praying that her BF gets the supervisors job next week (is there a smiley for a miracle?)
The amount of people who are telling them to 'split up' is shocking. But honestly? I can see why you would do it!!!

KATE so sorry that your poor DD is having all these problems at a time when she doesn't need all the stress, it's a good job she has a Mum with a steely backbone and determination to support her through all these trials, especially as you are having your own personal battles to fight as well!! More strength to your arms both of you and hoping and praying that things will be sorted out for you both very soon, thinking of you!!!
MEME I have been meaning to ask for ages how are both your DD and new grand daughter getting on these days? and also how is the little girl who was so poorly with leukaemia getting on? I really hope the treatment is making her better!
My pet hate at the moment is workmen who will insist on parking their vans on the pavement, especially on busy roads, leaving pedestrians not enough room to pass on the inside, that and the fact that these days when building is being carried out it's not just one van, I counted 14 separate vans and a very big delivery lorry with a trailer outside just one house being renovated!!! It is extremely hazardous trying to cross to the opposite side of the road at that point as it is on a bend where you cannot see far in either direction to see if anything is coming. They even had the pavement outside the house covered with cut down hedge yesterday, it's just not on is it?and it isn't a one off, every time there is building work the same problem occurs really thoughtless of them, no consideration for anyone else!!! Makes me sooooooooo cross.
Just want to say Hi to PAH, SMILEY, D&DD and all the other posters who are reading along and not often posting these days, just to say thinking of you all, hoping you are well and warm and getting on OK, miss you all, Cheers Lyn xxx.0
